Four of us (3 Brits and 1 Spaniard) had booked a tour in English at 5pm. Francesca was our enthusiastic Italian guide. She spoke English, but none of us could really understand her version of English, delivered in a staccato style with gusto. I picked out ‘malo-lactic fermentation’ (which I do happen to understand) and ‘carbon monoxide’ (not part of anything to do with wine production), but otherwise I drew a blank. I’m pretty sure Francesca does know what she’s talking about, but she didn’t manage to communicate it to us, and none of the four of our group really understood the majority of what she said. She needs some guidance on elocution and delivery of spoken English. A bit of a disappointing tour.

hank you very much for visiting El Fabulista Winery and for making a review that helps us improve. We deeply regret that Francesca was unable to adequately convey the visit and its concepts. his comment makes us do all the means so that this does not happen again. We are sorry that the experience has not been positive. A cordial greeting from all the team at Bodega el Fabulista.

Great visit to the El Fabulista underground winery in Laguardia. We did the 11am tour in English, it was very informative, lasted about an hour and included 2 tastings. The winery is based in some of the 300 caves that can be found under Laguardia.
We included the vist as part of a day trip from Logrono, only 20 minutes on the ALAVA Bus.

They live up to the name. The guide tells you a fable about when they made wine. Now they make it "elsewhere", because of "climate change"???. Of course, they are small in production because their winery is small, we don't know why they don't make or age them there. In reality, the only wine in the winery is the one from the store. A good fable. Despite everything, the facilities and caves are "curious". And the tasting is good.

Fun, informative tour of unique bodega next to San Juan’s church in the old center of LaGuardia. The lively host spoke good English and gave useful tasting tips over a couple of glasses of the product after guiding us through the history of the atmospheric cellars. Well worth the 12.50 euros and 1.5 hours spent.

My husband and I had an amazing experience at Bodega Fabulista while staying in LaGuardia, Spain that exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Irene, took us and one other couple on a captivating wine tour that was both fun and educational. Exploring the tunnels beneath the Fabulista Winery was a unique adventure, and Irene's explanation of the town's history and architecture, including the reasons there are tunnels under most all of the homes and buildings in the town was fascinating.

The story of Félix María de Samaniego, the famous fable writer and original owner of the house, added a charming touch to our visit. The name "Fabulista" couldn't be more fitting, and their wine labels featuring reproductions of fables were whimsical and delightful. But what surprised us even more were the wines with slightly more "erotic" labels inspired by Samaniego's humorous erotic poetry.

Irene's insights into the traditional winemaking methods, including handpicking the grapes and stomping the grapes provided a genuine connection to the history of this bodega. Learning about the distinct flavors that result from aging wines in American oak versus French oak casks was an eye-opening experience.

The pinnacle of our visit, of course, was the wine tasting in the cellar itself. Irene's engaging approach made it even more special. She encouraged us to identify which wines were aged in American versus French oak barrels and challenged us to discern the unique flavors in each wine.

This wine tour at Bodega Fabulista was a memorable and enriching experience that we will treasure and if you're in Laguardia, don't miss the opportunity to visit this remarkable bodega.

I have not visited many wineries, but I highly doubt that you will find a winery without equal. The draft, spectacular, Irene our friendly guide, what can I say, when they explain the process of wine making so well, so didactically, so fun, the truth is, it is a pleasure. And what can I say about the surprise, I'm not going to give spoilers, but it's the icing on the cake.
100% recommended. Continue doing things the way you do them, with so much love, with that dedication. Machines!!!

We visited the Winery with my 2 daughters (8 and 12 years old). The explanation is great, with a lot of detail and it shows that Raquel knows what she is talking about, and she does it in an entertaining way.
The Winery and its very cool history. The little ones also had their tasting (must and appetizer) and were delighted. Thank you

Excellent winery and very friendly tour guide. Our guide was very informative and gave us a brief history of Laguardia, its tunnels and the winery. Her knowledge about wine tasting was impressive as well. We learned a lot from her. Awesome place to take photos too. And of course the wines are spectacular.

My wife and I did a wine and tour and tasting in December 2021, a few days before the new year. Our guide, Antonio, was absolutely wonderful: energetic, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. He is clearly PASSIONATE about his work at Laguardia's oldest Bodega. Don't miss this tour!

Our visit at the Bodega El Fabulista was very nice. We‘ve learned a lot about the rioja wines and their history. It was quite impressive to see where wine was made centuries ago. A great thank you to our lovely guide.
