We visited after pre booking a rather pricey tutored tasting.. 16 Euros each for tasting 2 wines. There was just us and another couple and we were left by the host who said to stay and enjoy the beautiful tasting room, not long after our...More
My 18 year old son who is planning to study architecture insisted that this was a "must see" vineyard. We had a tour here on a sunny day in February, it is a stunning and unique sight. We did a tour of the winery followed...More
Did the 10:30am look & taste that was the perfect 1 hour stop as I could not endure another 2 hour tour of being shown vats, barrels, bottling.
The building alone was worth the trip. I was unfamiliar with this winery but two wines we...More
Calatrava's building is amazing. Not only the design but also the setup. it is located in middle of vineyards. Its close to LaGuardia and the view of the building is amazing from any angle. We have a great view spot from the back of buildings...More
Santiago Caltrava designed the building and it takes your breath away with the Cantabrigians mountains in the background. Everything about the winery was first class - from the guide, to the building, and of course the wines! Got to make this one of your stops...More
We attended a tour of the bodega and while wine is obviously the main focus of the tour, it truly takes a second seat to the building. The undulating roof and walls of the edifice are astounding! The tour is typical of bodega tours in...More

The tour covered the history of the property, grape sourcing, winemaking, aging and a tasting at the end. The...More
My wife and I love wine and the wine here was great (I thought the for the price the Reserve wine was a steal). Despite all this my lasting memory will be how fabulous the architecture was, truly a beautiful building on the outside and...More

#1- You certainly can visit the outside of the building which is quite impressive.....The wine tour includes a walk through the three main sections: The processing plant, the wine barrels room and the wine bottles in crates.....then they take you to the tasting room upstairs. I do not know anything about any tours of the inside of the building without a scheduled wine tour. As far as time to dedicate ...not much.

Hi Jessica, we stayed at a lovely historic hotel in LaGuardia close to the Ysios winery called Castillo El Collado - a very short drive or 15 minutes walk away. The receptionist at the hotel was very helpful in booking the wine tour for us on the morning that we visited. They seemed to run about 3 tours a day though not all in English. It seems to be standard across all the wineries that you need to book in advance rather than show up unannounced but they only require short notice.
We toured (by car) around the Basque country for 10 days staying in small boutique type hotels or B&Bs, organised for us by a UK company called Casas Cantabricas. They specialise in this region and provided a very comprehensive guide with maps and directions as well as tips for places of interest and restaurants, etc. I would definitely recommend them.
