We had the privilege to visit the Bodega for one of the evening tours. It is an amazing tour to see the paintings come alive along with an audio tour. The wine was extremely good as well and I enjoyed a bottle a few weeks later on our last night in Madrid. Definitely book this tour. You will not be disappointed.

Really nice experience. I visited the wine cellar last year and I repeated this one with my friends. They have made improvements without loosing their literary essence. Our guide was really kind and she explains every detail of the wine cellar with passion. I recommend the visit.

Unfortunately currently Solar do Samaniego only offer tours in Spanish ... but don't let that put you off, this is the "must visit" bodegas ... and the tour has enough well thought-out visuals that you'll be able to pick up the general theme. (However, if you're able to do another tour in English first you will get more out of this ... I'd recommend Carlos San Pedro for its more historical view of winemaking in the caves below Laguardia.) So, firstly, while the areas you see early in the tour are functional, they've been designed with enough thought to make them visually attractive for visitors. At the outset there's some good graphics showing the three stages in their wine making process, each broken down into smaller steps. Then, there's an attractive tasting room, where you try a young wine, taking a clean glass away with you. This is followed by some good audiovisual presentations, cleverly done in the barrel storage area, and of a well-judged length. The final film (also available online) is in English, subtitled in Spanish. Here, you put your clean glass to good use, sampling a quality wine. To this point the tour has simply been very good ... now, probably taking your wine with you, you move on to the exceptional part, as you move into the old part of the site, no longer used for winemaking. This is a former gaol, and its adaptation to wine making is a fascinating mix of social history and industrial archeology ... but you then turn the corner to the area occupied by the disused wine tanks, to enter the "Cathedral of Wine", a truly stunning set of huge portraits of literary figures. These really have to be seen "for real" to be appreciated. This whole visit is a triumph of planning ... it deserves to be far better known. (Note that it's best to reserve your visit, since scheduled "slots" are cancelled if no-one has booked, and the bodegas is only open to visitors for the tours that are going ahead.)

We came on the recommendation of a friend, and from driving by you wouldn't necessarily feel like entering. But once you're in, it's one of the best we've visited. Very nice and newly done, inspired by combining a good glass of wine with literature, art and good food! We'll be back.

This bodega is a little walk outside of the town of Laguardia but is well worth it. There is a fusion of wine, art and literature to be enjoyed whilst walking around with a glass of wine in hand. The industrial street art inside te winery is truly stunning in both quality and size and is a must see. The tour is currently only available in Spanish but they are planning on extending these to English in the near future.
