I cannot believe of all 1700+ reviews, no one has discussed safety. Perhaps it is because I am from California and would not think about biking on the streets without a helmet or maybe its because I am a physician and have actually seen people die from car accidents, but I found this experience to be very unsafe and uncomfortable. I took the trip from Tokyo Bay (so it could have been different if we were driving in a more downtown area), but we were dtiving up to 60 km/h with large trucks driving past us with no helmet and a questionable lap belt. If a car accidentally hit me, I am sure I would have died. To their credit, the tour guides were nice and flanked us in front and back and their priority was to keep us safe, so I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. Recommendations to MariCar - offer (better yet, require) helmets, choose routes where the speed limit is slower, and give more context to the sites we are seeing. I expected to have a better understanding of Toyko at the end of the trip. Not once did we stop to talk about what we were seeing. In the end, I had spent 2 hours driving around scared with gas fumes in my lungs and soot in my hair. I wish someone had written this review so I would have known better.
