This is s a Grade II listed building dating from 1855, although it looks much older. Originally used to host the town’s Market Traders, if fell into disrepair before a major renovation in only 2014. We would have loved to go inside to see The Shambles’ – the old meat market , but Covid restrictions are currently in place. With that said however the exterior views and architecture of the building are just lovely.

Had a lovely Tea for two and cake sitting outside in the sunshine recently. The cafe is run by some lovely old local ladies and the food and tea they provide is excellent. Just the solution for a post wedding hangover from the night before.

We saw a piece of theatre here in the evening. Ghost stories, with one about the round house. Very good location for intimate reading and very atmospheric. Loved the building and facilities. Great.

Lovely old building in the centre of the town. Some restrictions at the moment due to COVID (Museum is closed for example).
However one can walk around the outside of the building, and its pleasant to sit out at the front in the sunshine.

This is the place where the markets take place - and also houses the museum (check for opening hours) - it was bustling as I went past on a Saturday at about 1pm - Cary is a nice town

There was a real buzz around the place when we visited, with locals chatting and a second hand book sale going on. The local information centre was very well stocked with leaflets and information and the ladies working there very helpful and friendly.

The Market House contains the Local Information Centre (I made the mistake of asking if it was the Tourist Information Centre) with a good selection of leaflets covering the local area and with knowlegable staff.
