This little museum is marvellously eclectic and imaginatively curated for diverse interests and ages. Many of the exhibits may have been mundane for previous generations and some are just downright odd, but the entirety is well presented and deserving of anybody's time.

Only a small museum but spent a while here as the steward on duty was so informative. She made an effort to tell us about the various displays. Exhibit about horsehair fabric was particularly interesting

It's a very interesting museum and in the midst of a terrific town with some unique offerings such as the textile factory that weaves horse hair. Mike my guide at the museum was very knowledgeable about the contents of the collection. He was also a lot of fun

If you are visiting Castle Cary, it is well worth visiting this museum which is in a prominent position but is also tucked away and is on the 1st floor , and has many interesting artefacts and is run by voluntary stewards, who keep this little gem going and is worth a visit if you have a short time only

The artefacts in this museum were interesting.
There was no entry charge so it didn't worry me that it wasn't a 'dynamic' visit.
The Market House building that the museum was housed in was of more interest to me but you weren't able to see any more of the building which was a shame.
Castle Cary was a pretty little town with nice cafes & worth a brief stop but definitely not a whole day there.

This small museum is free to enter and full of the history of castle cary.although only a couple of rooms it is full of memories of yesterday. This not for disabled as the steps are not suitable .Make sure afterwards you visit the lock up just behind museum .Parking is limited on the street and there is a short and long stay free parking. Also make sure you visit the hill fort and note the pond that once had swans on the main street.the place coffee shop is a good stop.

Bang in the centre of Castle Cary, this small museum is intensely interesting. That horse hair was once woven locally into expensive, attractive and incomparably durable fabrics that covered the furniture of the rich and famous - including the royals - came as a surprise. The museum displays the whole process with samples. Don't miss it.
