Hozomon is the entrance gate closest to Sensō-ji temple, and situated at the end of Nakamise Street. Inside the gate are three huge lanterns and two statues. This is one very popular photo-op.

When I think of Tokyo this historic gate is the first picture that comes to mind. We went in the middle of the afternoon and it was sweltering hot. The crowds were relentless so don’t bank on a perfect picture without swarms of people. There’s...More

It is not only a temple, but a garden (on the right side), a historic bell which told the time (when folks heard it, they passed it on) and other places plus a market as you walked in. There are many dressed in kimono but...More

This is the large gate at the north end of the Nakamise Shopping Street and it marks the proper entrance to Senso-ji Temple. It's a favorite spot for tourist pictures, so don't expect a private photo session unless you can get there near dawn. It's...More

This is a large entrance gate to the Senso-ji Temple. Be prepared that there will be a lot of people around. Visit early morning or late afternoon with a good camera! ;-)

This is one of the structures (gate) within the Asakusa area. They are all together in one area. The Hozomon gate, the temple and shopping streets.

The innermost of the temple gates there are 3 beautifully coloured large paper lanterns apparently been there for a thousand years ( though replaced a few times). Lots of people take selfies as it is one of the iconic pics!

The Hozomon gate is part of the Senso ji temple complex. It is well worth a look at as part of a visit to the temple. The architecture is in the classic style and is very colourful. This area becomes very busy during the day...More

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old

Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
