Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

Exceptional professional service with so many options to choose from. Though very busy, every client was warmly welcomed, often in their native tongue. The staff member that served me proficiently in English also served another lady in Korean, then another in Chinese! A large bag (Similar to size to an IKEA carrier bag) is provided for you to place your clothes, shoes and items in, with a numbered tag so you can collect upon return. I selected a kimono with a 1000 yen upgrade cost, but the regular ones were stunning as well (I'm just picky). I also chose a hair ornament upgrade, but I don't remember the cost (~500 yen?). The hair stylist was very professional, and did my hair beautifully as per by choosing (sample picture provided to choose from) in about 10 minutes! Dressing me in the kimono was a meticulous process, with steps undone and redone if it was not to their standards. From entry to exit, it took 50 minutes. They then take a polaroid photo for you to keep. They were even kind enough to take photos on my camera! Socks, shoes and bag were also provided (a selection to choose from).
An amazing service in a convenient location, easy walking distance to Sensoji temple. For those not too used to walking in thongs/flip flops, your feet may hurt after awhile, so plan accordingly. They recommend wearing a thermal singlet (not high neck), and thermal leggings under the Kimono during the colder months.

A must experience for everyone visiting Japan and I highly recommend this activity for the entire family. I definitely enjoyed it as well as my husband and our teenage son! The shop had plenty of Kimonos to choose from and the staff was very helpful. Hair styling was done so quickly for me and it came out really good. There are several in Klook for this experience and I recommend this one (aiwafuku.com) or look for the shop described as close to/walking distance to the Sensoji Temple. The walk to the temple is easily done already wearing your Kimono/Yukata and Japanese slippers. On the other side of the shop is a spot to take photos of the Sumida River with Tokyo Skytree in the background! Going to the temple in a Kimono was an added bonus and made our whole experience more awesome and made our photos really authentic. Thank you to the staff at Aiwafuku for making this a memorable experience!!!!

I made a reservation in their website, since it gives you a bit of a discount and saves you from the queue. I even changed my reservation date due to planning changes, and they confirmed my reservation change quickly! Upon arrival, I just needed to present my reservation email, then they escorted you to a room to choose the kimono and pack your things in a bag. Then you get your hair styled and change into your kimono. The whole process is quick, and the staff were very friendly. They even lent us a bigger umbrella since it was raining. After returning the kimono, they gave us a memorabilia photo of us, discount vouchers and a thank you gift for reviewing their shop. This place is a must if you plan to wear a kimono in Tokyo!

It’s such a bad experience. The staff are mainly Chinese, they are only welcomed to those Chinese who can speak mandarin. I was totally ignored, customers came later than me, they could jump in front of my queue. I was a bit confused what kind of kimono to choose. Once I choose the one I like, the staff told me that it’s just too long for me, I couldn’t choose that (in a rude way), took away the kimono away from me. On the other hand, I had to wait for two hours to get dress up. I don’t think I would come back again. The shop is just too busy and only two staff serving.

Fuss free & efficient process, package covered everything - you just need to do your own make up.
They will also take your pic before you go and give it to you as a souvenir.
Shop near Asakusa station, and walking distance to all important places for you to take pic in your kimono: Sensoji temple, etc.
My friend & I took a rickshaw ride as well, was good!
I booked 1pm - they extended the return time by 1 hour (so 5.30 instead of 4.30). Thank you!
One tips for me:
Learn how you should pose with your kimono. For a girl, you should kind of holding the end of your kimono sleeve & do some kind of unfolding action with your hands.
Good luck!

It was precious to do a Kimono experience in Asakusa and Asakusa Aiwafuku locates right next to Tobu Asakusa station which is really close to Sumida river and Sensoji Temple. All staff were really kind and friendly. Various languages are available. strongly recommend it here:)

They have lots of unqiue kimono design and staff are very patient assisting us to choose our favorite kimono! They have no language barrier as well in english or chinese both are very fluent.
Reminder,
If you are over height of 190cm or above, you will still have option to choose your kimono but with few design only.

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your inquiry.
Kimono itself has 2 layers. In winter, we suggest customers wear warm inner and leggings inside.
Also, we will provide scarf, fur and kimono coat for rental.
Please book by our homepage. Thank you:D
