Rooftop! Unlike any aquarium in the USA

I wouldn't travel to Ikebukuro just for this aquarium, but if you are staying in the area, it is a great local destination. The Sea Lion track in the sky is really interesting.

It's an aquarium with a show. Great tricks and very friendly atmosphere. A lot of things to do there and in the area.

Very well organised and good layout. See deep sea creatures & fresh water creatures. The sea lion show is interesting. There are feeding times for penguins & pelicans. Reasonably priced entrance fees: Adult Y2000, Children Y1000.

It's a good aquarium with plenty to see. But It can get really busy, even in off peak times. It's worth a visit but it's nothing too special.

They are currently doing Halloween party and events until end of Oct. This place is really easy to get, enjoyable, especially night aquarium is great. Weekends are always crowded tho.

Ive been to better aquariums, this was a bit too short for my liking. I enjoyes the outside bit and the staff getting some animals out.

My friend and I were excited to go to an aquarium on our trip to Japan. Turns out we couldn't have been more eager to leave. Upon entering we were greeted by a miserable-looking seal swimming in circles in a tank barely wide enough for its body. The seal show was entertaining but as the show ended we saw the... More

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
