Very busy street full of shopping, good eats, drug stores, sega and sunshine city! Gets awfully crowded on weekend nights. Advise to go during the day time or be with friends if walking during the night. If you are traveling solo as a female many guys will try to get you to their club/restaurant so just keep walking.

It's situated near the East exit of Ikebukero Station about a two minute walk Plenty of shops putting it mildly It's near Sunshine city and Tokyu Hands Dept store You won't need your GPS to find it! Loads of reasonably priced restaurants with English menus

Good for shopping, not as crowded as Shinjuku. A nice place to spend couple hours. You can pretty much find all the things in this street. Nice food and shopping area.

Lots of atmosphere with a super range of shops and restaurants. Plenty of atmosphere at night - popular with a young and trendy crowd!

Other than the fact a maid from a nearby maid cafe hitting on my husband, there's not a lot going on here. Your usual Tokyo street with tons of shops.

Street was full of people. That was few shops was interested but the prices were not for my wallet. Maybe if I weren't coming back from Pokemon Center... But over all this is nice place to make some shopping.

I went to Tokyu Hands Home Centre to buy a few items for my kitchen. The street was filled with so many people and the noise level was pretty high.

Large variety of drugs and shoes choices there. Famous restaurant like Korean bbq and cake shop are located at the same street. U can spend whole day without leaving that area.

For those who likes ramen and soba (Japanese Noodle), go around Ikebukuro station, look for different Ramen and Soba stores to try out great tastes of authentic Japanese food. Ichiran Ramen, 無敵家, 光麵, 一風堂 are those I highly recommend.

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighborhood Profile
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
