We had the trip of a lifetime and that was entirely due to the efforts of our guide and friend, Yosuke. In the months prior to our trip, Yosuke and I exchanged countless emails while he helped me refine our choices for attractions, hotels, restaurants, and relaxation. Yosuke was extremely conscious of our budget, and made very helpful substitutions to adjust accordingly. My mother has several food allergies, (gluten, soy, shellfish- wow, I know!), but with Yosuke's help, she was completely fine eating-wise the whole trip. He made recommendations to help us make the most of our trip despite a massive cold spell cancelling some of our plans! Yosuke was extremely kind and flexible which helped us relax and shop! During our trip, we stopped in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hakone, and Tokyo. Despite only having 1-2 days in each stop (outside of Tokyo), thanks to Yosuke, we felt like we accomplished everything we set out to do. We plan to return to Japan several times, and could not imagine traveling the beautiful country without Yosuke. I can't recommend him enough.

This was a fabulous 8 hour day for the two of us, starting with a pick-up at the Yokohama Cruise Port then a walking and driving tour of Tokyo, then a drop off at our hotel. Our guide Naomi was fabulous (knowledgeable, organized, friendly) and tailored it to our interests as well. Our driver Masami was prompt and very good in the busy traffic including some rerouting due to accidents ahead. Very clean and comfortable van with large windows. Yosuke in the office was excellent, very helpful and communicative with our many questions in advance. It was a great introduction to Tokyo and seeing the major well-known spots up close and personal plus driving through and learning about some other areas that we could go to later. We enjoyed a tasty lunch at a local restaurant as well as a bit of food sampling in the outer fish market. And, we had time to shop and buy a Japanese knife. It was a great day of learning for our first day ever in Tokyo!

Those two ladies are working together for many years so they know what to do without communication.
That's how good our team is!
Having a private guide/driver to get around the city from the port should be the most effective way to get to know the area, especially the team has a long experience of working together!
We carefully chose the guide and driver who work with us and we don't hire anyone who doesn't have a sense of friendliness, hospitality and ability to offer good services.
I, who act as a back office this time, am glad that you enjoyed your experience!
If you have a chance to do another port call when you come back to Tokyo or Yokohama Port, please let us know in advance!
We offer not only a day tour in Tokyo but also other day tours to other cities including Hakone, Kamakura, etx.

My family had the privileged of doing a half-day private tour of Shinjuku and Harajuku with Yosuke. I had originally booked tours back in 2020, but the pandemic happened. We finally made it to Japan and Yosuke was gracious enough to rearrange his schedule to accommodate us for a half day.
As a Tokyo native, Youske is a wealth of knowledge, and a pleasure to be around. His extensive knowledge of history and being able to convey it in a really interesting way is what really stood out. We plan on returning to Japan in the near future, and look forward to hopefully doing some sightseeing outside the city with Yosuke.

Thank you for posting a great review of the service i provided and I'm glad to know and hear that you enjoyed the time we spent together, however, it was just for four hours.
What you expected to do and see during the tour were so obvious that helped me bring you to the places that fulfil your requests!
For example, going to the Fire Museum was something that i hadn't expected to bring my customers to.
But I'm glad that you mentioned something about the fire department, which prompted me to take you to that particular museum!
Since we covered just a few locations just in Tokyo, yes please do come back and travel with me so that i can take you to some other places not only in Tokyo but also other parts of the country.
The reason why I started this business in 2010 was that I was so fascinated by the beauty of Japan and wanted to share this experience with someone who is interested!
I look forward to the day that we can travel and have a good time together in the near future!

Had a great time in Japan. Spent about 5 days with Yosuke he was very knowledgeable and got us where we needed to go safely. We started at the northern part of Japan and ended in Tokyo it was pretty cool and will do it again the next time I go back. Thank you Yosuke.

It was such a long-distance trip travelling from northern-most prefecture, Aomori all the way down to Tokyo just in 5 days.
I wish you could spend more days so we didn't have to rush to travel from one place to another but because of the time constraints, maybe next time so that you can see more things in a relaxed pace!

I'm really grateful for your kindness and hospitality during the tour.
Japan is a small country but features so many unique things all across the country, so I wish I can take you to the different parts of the country so that you can experience something totally different from this trip.

Look no further if you are visiting Japan! Book with Discover Japan! We highly recommend this company. Yosuke is a true gem as a tour guide and owner! He speaks fluent English, and is reliable, efficient, friendly and patient. Our email and Line communication were seamless and prompt. He is very flexible and will work with you to customize your tour. Yosuke alleviated the stress of airport transfers of very early arrival to and from our hotel . He is very knowledgeable of the places we visited during our Tokyo tour. Not only did Yosuke give us background information of the places but also suggestions and recommendations of places to visit, shop or dine. He taught us cultural practices (especially for the temple and shrine we visited) which we engaged ourselves into. My sisters and I really enjoyed and appreciated the airport transfer services Yosuke provided and spending our tour day with him. We engaged Yosuke to help arrange a schedule for our family holiday to Japan. He would only communicate via email and refused to meet online to discuss our requirements. We did manage to arrange and pay for, via Yosuke, 3 tours with Chris Rowthorn tours before Yosuke abandoned us and declared he no longer wanted to help us. This was despite us already having paid his fee. Sadly, we had to cancel one of the Chris Rowthorn Tours tour, to Nara, which cost JPY60,000. We confirmed with Chris Rowthorn Tours that the JPY60,000 refund had been returned to Yosuke. We then emailed Yosuke concerning the return of this refund to ourselves but have been met by radio silence and, needless to say, we are still waiting to receive our refund of JPY60,000.
On a separate note, the tours hosted by Chris Rowthorn Tours exceeded all expectations and I would highly recommend them. Just don’t arrange them via Discover Japan Tours.

First of all, you should understand why I decided NOT to help you arrange your trip anymore.
All you did was just ‘take’ while all I did was ‘give’ and you had NO ears to listen to my advice especially after I helped you arrange tours with another company.
I spent so many hours researching/arranging/organizing things to make your trip more fruitful and memorable just like I do to all my customers
So I needed your cooperation like ‘being flexible’ and your understanding that I’m working hard and doing my best to help you make the most of your time in Japan, but surprisingly, you didn’t listen to me and insisted on doing whatever you planned to do, which absolutely didn’t make any sense at all.
By the way, have you ever checked the amount that I refunded to you after I decided not to work for you anymore by chance?
Since I never, ever wanted to deal with such a rude, disrespectful and selfish customer like yourself, I made a full refund for you that included the fee that I was supposed to charge you by arranging tours with another company and giving all the helpful information you can take advantage of while your stay.
That means that I spent hours and hours to help you but I was happy to give you back everything as long as you’re no longer my customer.
And I don’t know how many times I told you that I had no time to make an online meeting as I’m out of office during a day because I guide people and the only time that I can spare for you is mid-night your time.
You need to understand that there’s a big time different between where you live and here and I couldn’t physically make an online meeting with you unless you’re ok having a chat with me at 3 AM your time.
And what is JPY60,000??
You should stop making a fake story and mislead people out of your frustration that I abandoned you and not to help you anymore.

An amazing full day tour of Tokyo with Yosuke. We had only one day in Tokyo and were looking for a reasonably priced guided tour that would pick us up and drop us off at the Yokohama port. Yosuke delivered on exactly what we were hoping for. We didn’t know much about Tokyo so left it to him to create an itinerary. Yosuke expertly guided us around the city hitting all the highlights accompanied by a knowledgable explanation. I would highly recommend Discover Japan Tours.

I just realized that you wanted to do a guided tour in Tokyo while you're docked in Yokohama for such a short period of time after receiving a last-minute enquiry email from you followed by the phone call from your husband.
I was so glad that things worked out so promptly and perfectly!

I am extremely disappointed that Discover Japan cancelled our tour without giving any reason. The best I can figure is that we decided to take our own transportation from the airport to our hotel as opposed to a limousine they were going to give us . I would think a month’s notice before we arrive was enough notice to cancel this part of the tour Now with 23 days to go before arrival we must look for a new guide service!
I won’t say more until I receive a reply from them.
Also the agency has a name which makes no sense. When I originally contacted them and asked about trips in other parts of Japan they said they did not handle them. So why “Discover Japan “ as opposed to discover Tokyo?

We have used Discover Japan Tours on two separate visits to Japan and have had an exceptional experience each time. This most recent trip in April 2023 was to enjoy the Cherry Blossoms during the Sakura season, and we were not disappointed. Yoske-san was our tour guide both time and provided details and conversation as we visited each amazing site. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I remember the prompt email back and forth with Yosuke before finally meeting him in Tokyo. I left it very much to him to plan our 2days trip mostly only letting him know that my child would appreciate making some art and craft for Keep sake. Our trip from Tokyo to Mount Fuji was very comfortable, well planned and he took very good care of us.
Yosuke is conversant, speaks good English and what I really appreciate, there is this honesty about him. We enjoyed our trip throughly. Our only regret was that we booked him too late therefore unable to have him plan more of our schedule.

I remember that it was a very pleasant two-day trip to the Mt. Fuji area and I'm glad to know that you also enjoyed your trip with me.
You've been very kind and very respectful since we started conversting via email and I also remember that you started calling me 'Yosuke-san', the very way that most locals call me, which is also a respectful way for people to call someone by adding 'san' at the end of one's name.
Spending time to work on the personal itinerary for my customers is one of the cruicial parts of my business and I enjoy consulting with my customers to put pieces together to make 'one-and-only' itinerary that most suits you!
I know that it wasn't your first time to travel to Japan last Nov., but I really do hope that you come back here and explore some beautiful, rural parts of the country.

We will be in Toyko February 12-13 only. Is there a relatively inexpensive tour to Mt Fuji for two adults? Also, can they pick up and drop off at my hotel?

Prices are very reasonable for private tours. We just finished one w Yosuke last week of Mount Fuji. Pickup and drop off at your hotel are included. This was the second time I toured with Yosuke, and highly recommend him. I’ve travelled to Japan a half dozen times and have used different vendors for private tours, and Discover Japan is the one I will continue using!

My family and I (5 adults) are planning to go on vacation in Tokyo from April 1-8,2019, and we were thinking of taking a day trip to Hakone & Mt. Fuji area. While checking the reviews of Tours I noticed that his tour service got very good (5 Star!) reviews so it caught my interest. I understand this is a private tour,am I right? Yes, the tours we offer are 100% private, customized tours so we don't put other people together.
We basically create the itinerary based on the customers' interests/requests, but here
are some of the areas where we take our customers to in the Mt. Fuji Five Lakes district;
*Some of the Mt. Fuji Five Lakes
*Shrine or pagoda
*Ponds
*Forest (Short hike in the forest is good for those who like to experience some nature
in the area)
And followings are also the popular places people like to visit, but some extra fees are
required for admissions;
*Open air museum ('Iyashi-no-sato', JPY350/adult, JPY150/child)
*Caves (Ice cave, wind cave and bat cave, JPY290/adult, JPY140/child)
*Observatory ('Koyo-dai', JPY150/adult,JPY100/child)
*5th station of Mt. Fuji (JPY2,060 per vehicle)
*Ropeway ('Kachikachiyama ropeway, JPY720/adult, JPY410/child)
And in the Hakone area, we usually take our customers to some of the following areas;
*Local village where the traditional handcrafts are made
*Ancient highway
*Ancient tea house
