地下鉄新高円寺駅から少し歩いた
松応寺のとなりにある曹洞宗のお寺です。
明治42年に当地に移転しましたが、
宝暦7年、1757建立の本堂、寛延3年、1750建造の開山堂については、そのまま移築したもので区内有数の古い建造物ということです。
また、他に類をみない乳房を嬰児にふくませている木彫の「子授け地蔵尊」が安置されているとのことです。

境内にある祠が、珍しく開いていました。早速近寄って中を拝見。花が飾られ、中心には小さな御像が。後でわかったのですが、これ、弁天堂だそうです。つまり中の御像は弁天様でした。

山号を永昌山と号する曹洞宗の古刹です。1750年代に建立された、本堂と開山堂は移築されてきたものですが、この建造物の古さは屈指といえます。境内や本堂をはじめとした建造物の手入れが行き届いているのが、素晴らしいと感じました。

曹洞宗のお寺です。元々檀家として旗本・御家人・尾張藩士等武家絡みの方々が多かったようです。そのために参詣に要する共待ち部屋・槍小屋・馬小屋などもあったそうです。現存の本堂・開山堂は1750年頃の建造物であるとされ、開運弁天堂は江戸中期建造と言われ、杉並区内有数の古い建造物です。

曹洞宗の寺院で、永昌山と号します。青梅街道の南側に堀ノ内斎場があり、北側の高円寺南２丁目にはお寺が固まってありますが、その一角にあります。年代物のしっかりとした山門がありますが、明治42年当地へ移転してきたそうです。
