About
Held along the Pearl Center shopping arcade and Suzuran Shopping Street south of Asagaya Station, the Asagaya Tanabata Festival started soon after the end of World War II when local shop owners wanted to invigorate Asagaya. The Tanabata decorations have been handmade since the first Asagaya Tanabata Festival. The decorations include the year's popular characters and themes so they uniquely reflect the current times. The food stalls and store sales held during the festival also attract many people.

Visited the fest in August, which is in the middle of summer. So you can expect the heat from all the walking and sightseeing.
The saver was the endless supply of ice-cold beer and various ice beverages.
Skip your dinner and fill your tummy with the of local Japanese snacks instead.
Again - be warned of the humidity and the crowd. But overall it was good fun as everyone here is to have a good, family fun.
