Neighborhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

This friendly retro video game bar is fantastic. A friendly welcome and fantastic cocktail list await those who find it. Very small but bursting with character.

The owner is super nice and so are the locals. I took My Love here for his birthday and we found this hole in the wall. Super fun. Great drinks and atmosphere. There's a lot of nostalgic video game stuff to look at. Plus you can play the classics with everyone there. Met some people from London. It was a fantastic evening. Wish I could bring this place back stateside with me. Made for a fun evening.

This bar is located on the second floor in a building hidden away in East Shinjuku. I visited here several times, and enjoyed every visit. I tried all their cocktails, and Invincible Mario (made by Masashi, since each bartender makes it slightly different!) is my favorite. They have tons of retro and new games, and the staff is all super friendly. After a long day of walking and traveling, Star Club is a great place to sit down and enjoy a very late night drink. They're open 8 PM to 4 AM every night.

The owner is very gentle, decoration is nostalgic, drinks are awesome and you have the opportunity to play or watch people play nearly all Mario games, from the first ones to the most recent. For the ones that had played Mario during the old childhood times, it is a nostalgic and pleasant experience.

Coasy little super Mario bar with gaming decour. There's a small entry fee but you get unlimited gaming for it. Mostly Mario classics along m-cart, smash, street fighter etc. They have mario themed drinks wich were kinda nice. The staff is friendly and speak good English. Wanna unwind with games and a drink? Finding this place is a little tricky - until you come across the bright red star outside! Walking up the narrow staircase to the door with the signature star on...push it open and that's where the magic begins! This amazing place consists of bar seating for around 6 people plus 2 tables. Everything is Nintendo themed and not only does the Star Club feature an ample selection of drinks and cocktails, but also EVERY legendary Nintendo game from every cool console ever released with the help of an emulator and a large screen. Despite navigating the game menus in Japanese, the bar staff are always willing to help and after a while you get used to the menus and what you're supposed to press. Again, not speaking Japanese is no problem here - as as you would expect, Japanese hospitality makes sure you are well looked after. The drinks are tasty and there's even bar snacks - but come for the gaming nostalgia, the ambiance and the fun and laughs you can have right up until the early hours! (We stayed till 4am!) A must do when in Tokyo!

Hard to spot but is on the upper level with a lit up sign saying 'open' in the window. Well worth the visit!! When we arrived we were welcomed and invited to play super Mario kart 64 with wii controllers and projected up onto a massive projector. There is a 500 yen cover charge per person but you get free popcorn and unlimited gaming, plus it's worth it for the experience. Various drinks and cocktails are available from around 500-1,000 yen. They even have Mario, Luigi and toad hats you can wear. My boyfriend and I had a great night, would definitely recommend :)

We were looking for things to do on a rainy in Shinjuku and planned to visit three bars, this being the first. When we found it (look closely for the sign, it's on the 2nd floor above a diner) we stayed for the rest of the night. Decent prices for great drinks, but what did were the laid back atmosphere and the sympathetic bartender. The place it chok Full of Nintendo memorabilia and you can play some cool (retro) games. Definately a place to visit when you love Nintendo and enjoy a good drink.

Ask to borrow hats, find some controllers, order some drinks, and make some friends or enemies as you choose from any of the old Nintendo classics, but Mario kart 64 comes with my recommendation.

A cool (but small) bar in Tokyo. This is a must see for Nintendo/Super Mario fans. There is a small cover charge (a few pounds) to take a seat, but well worth it.
The lights are Super Mario Pipes with Piranha plants coming out. The bar is full of super Mario merchandise. And there are Mario themed drinks such as the Fire Mario and 1UP.
