ちょっと味気ない寺院ですが、実は首切り浅右衛門の墓があります。代々、罪人の首を切り落としてきた山田家の墓です。いわば死刑執行人であるわけです。山田家は代々刀剣の試し切り役を司っていたわけですが、世間ではいろいろな噂が立ったようです。墓所の入口近くにあります。

四谷から信濃町にかけてのお寺巡りをした際に立ち寄った曹洞宗のお寺です。本堂は古典的な様式を模していますが新しく鉄筋コンクリートで建てられたものでした。観光的な要素は感じられませんでした。

戒行寺坂に面してあるお寺ですが、入口はコンクリートブロック塀に挟まれたものでアスファルト舗装で、お寺には感じられません。

地下鉄の四ッ谷三丁目駅に近い須賀町界隈は寺町です。
たくさんあるお寺に中でひときわ大きいのがこちらの勝興寺です。
天正１０年（１５８２年）創建の歴史あるお寺ですが、広い境内の片隅に立つ地蔵さんだけが往時の面影を残しています。

山門から境内まで、完全バリアフリーでした。ただ、何もなくて、味気ない境内でした。

新宿区須賀町にある曹洞宗の寺院で、法輪山と号します。須賀町には数多くの寺院がありますが、その中でも大きな寺院の一つです。立派な本堂があります。

戦争でお寺が寺宝と共に消失しており、現在本堂は再建されていますが、正直お寺の特徴がわかりませんでした。あまりはお寺が多いです。

四谷の戒行寺坂の北側、須賀神社の南側にある曹洞宗のお寺です。
「首切り朝右衛門」と言われた山田朝右衛門の墓があるお寺です。
安政の大獄で吉田松陰らの首をはねた７世朝右衛門の墓もあります。
境内には奪衣婆の石像も安置されています。

江戸時代に刀剣の試し斬り役を務めていた人物として有名な山田朝右衛門吉利のお墓がある寺院。吉利のお墓はここ勝興寺と港区白金にある正源寺にあるらしく、彼の遺言からそうなったとか…。大変立派な寺院ですが、観光向きではありません。

外苑東通りの左門町交差点から東側へしばらく行った処にある。境内の奥に明るい色の本堂が立っている。1582年、麹町清水谷に創建、その後現在の処に移転された。
