If you want to experience a cat cafe, you can't go wrong with this one. It's very clean and quiet, and there are maybe a couple dozen cats of various breeds. You're warned at the entrance which cats don't want to be petted. There are lockers for your coat, backpack, etc. The business is on two levels, with the entrance... More

I enjoyed my time at Cat Cafe Calico Shinjuku. A bit difficult to find, but worth the effort. You go inside a building and up a few floors to find it. The place is on two levels, connected by a short stairway. Cats all around, most of them more of the exotic types. The staff is friendly and helpful. You... More

If in Japan you got to try these weird cafes. The cats are not so fun to play with because they are apparently drugged/ sedated. But still is an experience to be surrounded by several different types of cats.

I found it a bit hard to find and a little intimidating as I entered the alley leading to the lift. Once inside it was well presented and had strict hygiene control. Maybe a few more seats would be good as it gets very busy. Cats all must be well fed as many refused the purchased food many people were... More

I loved this Cat Café experience. Great for all cat fans. It was 1000 yen per person/hour and a range of very reasonably priced drinks are available too. Was great to spend some time with all of these gorgeous kittys! Definately worth spending 300 yen on a little box of chicken to feed the cats.

The place is very clean and the soft classical music makes it very relaxing. There were plenty of cats, all in good health and obviously well taken care of. Great for cat lovers. You get to stay for one hour for $10.

I can see why this is a popular concept we found it to be very relaxing to take a break from work or life in general as there were quite a few old people in there. It was a really good experience and something you should do if you are in the area however it was quite expensive and didn't... More

If you're a cat lover, you would scream with joy seeing so many cats with different personalities and types. For those who say that these cats would only come by you for treats, they are wrong. Cats, like humans, can be introverted or extroverted. They can bond with you really well or just need some work. It is crazy when... More

There were 5 of us who visited the cafe together. We found the layout great, with two floors to explore and lots of gorgeous kittens/cats the hour we were there flew past. We were a little dissapointed that the cats were not a friendly as we expected. We thought they would want to come up to us/sit on our laps... More

Cheap entrance fee, many cats and they are free to walk everywhere in the cafe. The cafe offers books, comic, coffee, and light meal. You can pay by little money to get some cat foods to feed them. Those cats are energentic, looked healthy, and willing to play. Very worth to go, and heart healing.

Neighborhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
