Really cool to see such tiny bars crammed into a small area, all with different decor but we walked through on a very quiet night and felt way too awkward and not welcome to go into any of the bars and have a drink. Even...More

We wondered the Golden Gai during one of our nights in Shinjuku. Plenty of options to pick from even if not all our tourist friendly. We stopped by one of the smaller ones right near the center and had a great evening of drinking with...More

Tons of great bars and we met some great people, danced and drank all night and definitely want to go back! The fact that each bar ca only fit max 10 people inside was why it was so charming, staff so friendly in most the...More

Cool place with a lot of tiny bars. In one we were alone with the bartender and in another we sang karaoke with a group of others. Some had entrence fee and some did not, but there were signs outside so you knew before you...More

Golden gai I believe is one of the oldest areas in Tokyo. It's more like a narrow lane/alley lined by several tiny bars on both sides. Each bar can only accommodate somewhere between 3-29 people. Each bar seemingly changes daily out here and you won't...More

This is quite the experience. Most people will not find it or know about it, but it is definitely worth a look. We walked thru daytime and nighttime. Come out the east exit of the JR Shinjuku Station. That is Shinjuku-dork. Walk across one block...More

We had so much fun walking up and down the streets and alleyways in the Golden Gai. Small bars and restaurants line the roads both upstairs and downstairs. Some charge covers, so check the board outside of each before you go in. There are all...More

My husband and I would end up here every night. We loved the small bars, intimacy and uniqueness of this area. Some places had a cover, but if the people looked interesting and inviting we didn't mind paying. We met locals, other travelers and business...More

Good location easy access to transportation and a very centralised location. However this hotel is located in kabukicho red light area.Having said that the ambience isn't extreme, id say its very mellowed for what it is. I find it absolutely safe and non disturbing ....More
