小説”坊ちゃん ”の主人公が、東京理科大学の前身の東京物理学校を卒業した数学教師であったことに由来し、主人公は四国松山の中学に赴任して、反俗精神に貫かれた豪放磊落な熱血教師として描かれていることから、人間味にあふれた実力ある理数系教師を多数輩出し、理学の普及に果たした役割を誇りにさらに未来に亘って脈々と継承していくことを期して、モニュメントは建設したとのことです。

飯田橋の東京理科大の正面の芝生に建っています。夏目漱石の「坊ちゃん」　の主人公が数学の教師が東京物理学校の卒業生だったことから、理科大の学生の強いエネルギーや無限の可能性を願う意味を表しているとのこと。よくわからないですが？

　東京理科大学近代科学資料館から外堀通りに出る折、見掛けたモニュメントで東京理科大学キャンパスの一画に建ててあります。
　説明板があるので見て名称の由来は分かったものの、他に展開図まであるが難しくて分かりませんでした。
　場所は、外堀通りの神楽坂下交差点から市ヶ谷方向に右側歩道を２分位行った右手なので、漱石ファンや数学好きの方は、ご覧になっては如何でしょう。
　因みに名称の由来は
　夏目漱石の小説 “坊っちゃん” の主人公が、本学前身の東京物理学校を卒業した数学教師であったことよる。
　とのことです。

東京理科大の敷地内の外堀通り側にある不思議な形のオブジェです。
夏目漱石の坊っちゃんを連想することは出来ませんが、どことなく、数学ぽい理論もありそうな形です。

不思議な感じがする塔

　JR飯田橋駅の近くの東京理科大学の敷地内にこの塔はありました。数学にはあまり詳しくはないのですが、何とも不思議な形をした塔です。小説「坊ちゃん」の主人公がここの出身者との事でこの碑があると事です。最初に見たときは、夏目漱石と、この何とも言えない形をした碑が結びつかなくて、不思議な思いをしました。
