信濃町駅の近くにあるが、案内板があるのみ。
案内板によると、この地に「南総里見八犬伝」の著者・滝沢馬琴が住んでいたとのことである。
案内板以外に歴史がわかるものは残っていないので、史跡を期待して訪れるとがっかりするかも。

※「南総里見八犬伝」は、江戸時代に書かれたファンタジーで、映画化もされている。

中華食堂日高屋と馬琴

新宿区霞ヶ丘町。ＪＲ信濃町駅前の広い交差点角に、戯作者滝沢馬琴終焉の地の碑が建っています。中華食堂日高屋の目の前です。何の関係もない両者のコントラストが面白いと思いました。

今は案内板があるのみ

JR信濃町駅を出てすぐのところにある、南総里見八犬伝の作者として知られる滝沢馬琴終焉の地です。亡くなるまでの12年間を過ごした場所ということですが、今はそれを示す案内板が立っているだけです。お墓は地下鉄茗荷谷駅近くの深光寺にあります。

馬琴終焉の地にたつ看板

JR総武線信濃町駅南側すぐのところに「南総里見八犬伝」の著者滝沢馬琴終焉地を示す看板がたっています。看板はラーメン店の前に道路に向かってたっていましたが、とても小さく、注意して探さないと見過ごしてしまいます。

小さな立て看板で確認できる

信濃町駅から神宮外苑に向かうときにこの看板をみて、ここが滝沢馬琴の終焉の場所なのかと確認できます。看板の説明文のみなので、神宮外苑でのイベント時や銀杏並木の季節などの周辺散策の途中にみてみるとよいかもしれません。

住居跡から井戸跡まで、滝沢馬琴の史跡は東京のあらゆるところにあり、そうした史跡巡りの締めの場所として、ぴったりです。
