Neighborhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

It was clear that the staff do genuinely care for them. They have rest period in between visitor time slots, which shows that the staff do make sure that they don’t get stressed or overwhelmed by the visitors. We had a great time with the owls!Thank you for visiting our store. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with our owls. They are our family. We will continue to do our best so that everyone can enjoy their visit with peace of mind. Please come back to see our cute owls again! Thank you very much. - Cassie G81 contributionsHighlight of my day in Harajuku!Truly one of the highlights of my trip. An hour was the perfect amount of time. The owls are so well-loved and cared for, and you get the opportunity to pet all of them and hold them. The staff instructs you on how each individual owl likes to be pet, and they even give a cute owl comic book and glass owl as a souvenir at the end. All drinks are served in owl mugs or glassware, which is a nice touch. What really made this experience special was the lovely staff. They were so sweet and informative, and you could tell they loved each and every owl. Such a great experience that I would recommend to everyone traveling to Harajuku.Thank you for visiting our store. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with our owls. They are our family. The staff advises which ones can be pet and which ones not to touch. The owls are everywhere. They fly around and hang out wherever they please. One flew on top of my head. I didn’t mind at all. The staff was extremely friendly. They tell you the names of each owl and show you how to pet, massage and feed them. You can tell how much the staff cares for these owls. They take care of them very well. I had booked a tour that included a different owl cafe, unfortunately the tour failed to make the reservation and I could not get in, and all the owl cafes were booked the remaining of my trip. Luckily this place was able to take me, and I am extremely grateful that I didn’t miss out on this opportunity.Thank you very much for coming. - Trail124175834342 contributionsGreat Small Owl Cafe in True SenseThe over 10 owls were well cared for in the cozy family-like owl-themed setting. The biggest species was there and the staff of 3 was approachable and quite conversant in spoken English. The option between a cake with drink and a Japanese owl cartoon book was there for the customer as part of the hourly package. Choosing the former made my stay a real café visit with owls of which some habitually stared at trains movement across the cafe like human kids. The small interior area was the only reservation I had as it would make the areas too packed when more than 8 customers were being attended to concurrently. Yet the level of hygenie, lack of funny odour and owls' healthy looks and demeanours and the dedicated staff who showed passion for owls, customers and their jobs all proved exceptionally admirable.Thank you very much for coming. What a fun and different experience. The owls are all beautiful and appeared to be well cared for by a diligent staff. I could not resist visiting this and other animal cafe's in the area as it is something quite different and very unavailable in the states. There is a nice selection of owls large and small that you can pet (they are really soft!) and hold. The staff was caring and did not rush us through the cafe. Unless you have an exotic animal cafe in your hometown, visiting here is a must!

The owls were cute for sure, but I felt badly for them. There are 30 of them living in a tiny cafe. I can't imagine it not being stressful. Their wings work fine, but because the space is so small, they can't fly. The staff was friendly

Thank you for visiting.
Thanks again for your concern for them.
We have 18 owls in our store.
They are creatures that, unlike eagles and hawks, do not fly long distances or require much exercise.
They also hunt in a style where they wait for prey to pass in front of them.
But our store is small, so on sunny days we go with them to Yoyogi Park to fly and run.
Sorry our English is not good enough to explain properly.
We hope to tell you how they are doing in the next time.
Thank you very much.

We had a memorable time visiting the Owl Cafe and Village in Harajuku. While we have some reservations about these wild animals being kept in captivity, the staff seem to really love and take good care of them. We loved being able to pet and hold the owls, and to watch them interact with one another. We'll be telling stories and sharing photos for years to come.

This place is more like a petting zoo as you have a drink in one room and visit the birds in another. They look well cared for but to be stuck in a room 4 flights up never feeling fresh air seems real cruel to me. Didnt like it at all.

I traveled all the way to Tokyo, to show my pet mouse an enjoyable time. Thought he would feel closer to nature by coming to visit the owl bar.
Big mistake! Owls like mice. Like, way too much.
Suffice to say, I left my mouse in Tokyo.

I bought a ticket to go Owl cafe in harajuku.
They cost me 1,500 JPY and it was a very small Owl cafe with just 5~6 owls.
if you go straight down to harajuku street, you can find a much better owl cafe with 7~800 JPY.
Never visit for Owl cafe

If you are trying to locate this dump walk 10 secs. down the alley to the right of the building and you will see an elevator located on your left. This garbage business is located on the third or fourth floor.
Cafe? Bar? Village? None of those words apply to this place. This establishment is literally in a small studio apartment.
When you first arrive everyone will sit on the ground around a table and have a drink. Then you will get up and take two steps into where the owls are located and kept tied to a branch.
You will find many cafes like this mostly located in Harajuku and Akihabara. The psychology behind why people support these places and find them interesting will forever be quite sad.
Cafes like this have absolutely nothing to do with Japanese culture. If you want to experience a unique cafe, go to one of the themed cafes where the servers are dressed in cosplay.

Hello.
Thanks for coming.
Thank you for your valuable opinion.
The owl is a family of staff, so we will improve the environment.
But they are not always connected.
They go down to the floor and play freely, and go to the park for training.
Please come and see those owls if you have a chance.
Thank you

Are the owls well looked after and ethically? I would like to visit but I want to ensure I am supporting a place which looks after the animals safely and properly. Thanks!
Written May 21, 2019
thanks for your questions.
I think whether it is logical or not depends on the customer's judgment, but in our shop we make a break of 25 minutes every hour and also set up a time to go out to play outside.
In addition, since each character and how to touch are explained at the beginning, we are devising not to give stress to the owls as much as possible.
Written May 31, 2019
Hi I would like to visit but I have a 4 year old. Can he sit outside in the cafe area with Dad while I go in a visit with owls?
Written January 25, 2019
Thank you for your question.
The name of our shop is Owl Village.
Our shop is divided into cafe space and owl space.
If you use only cafe space, we have a seat charge of 500 yen.
Even children 4 years old can also enter the owl space if you keep the precautions.
However, it will be the same as the adult rate.
Dad can wait in the cafe space while you are in the owl room.
Because there was one who wrote about another shop, please be careful.
