There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

Konno Hachimangu: The hidden face of Shibuya
Jul 2020
Who would have thought that we could one day associate any of the following keywords with a place so close to the center of Shibuya: silence, nature, no crowds. But that's exactly what we found! This might be the best spot to take a rest from the bustling area around Shibuya Station.

It's quite fascinating how much history you can find even in modern districts like Shibuya.

渋谷から徒歩5分で、都会の中にある立派な神社です。

this review is for travelers by tokyo local.

Konno Hachimangu is a shrine that takes a role at Shibuya. It has been built more than 900 years ago, and has been loved by the local people even today. It is near to Shibuya station station  which is the 2nd busiest station in the world but it is quiet and people can feel holiness. Although it is not large, it can give you the atmosphere of Local Japanese shrine.

Quite near Shibuya Station so if you visit Shibuya area for sightseeing, shopping etc and would like to see also a shrine, this is the good place. Shibuya samurai family governed this area so the area is called as Shibuya. One of the family helped Yoshitomo and was later ordered to fight with Yoshitsune so called betrayer againt Kamakura Government but was killed instead and a wood piece carrying his name is there(I coud not see it but coud see the small shrine containing it)

We were there at a very hot day, but nevertheless we enjoyed the crowd and the friendly atmosphere. Good Shrine to combine with the electronic shopping area.

Lovely Shrine in Interesting Neighborhood

This is a non tourist shrine with Japanese families coming on weekends to pray and sample street food in little stores. Great assortment of sweets! The shrine is lovely and it is a quick walk to the sightseeing cruise boats.

If you haven't seen a shrine before, this may be interesting. Spend some time and see how Japanese people prey.
