Top ways to experience Shibuya 109

The area

Address
Neighborhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

The staff here are lovely. To get photos of the stores I asked politely. Many staff kindly helped me pick out a special outfit for an event here. As its open from 10am and super close to Shibuya Hachiko Gate exit; 109 is such a fun place to go to.

A lot of shops are more expensive but there are accessible ones like SPICA, the tights store, the basement accessories and gear store; and some other rare gems.

Japanese popular fashion is a lot of fun! Definitely go if you like clothes, though the more affordable shops are more hidden.

The other day, I went to 109 for the first time in 20 years. It brings back memories. It had just opened so there weren't many customers, but the lively interior and cute clothes were just as they were back then. Some of the stores had changed, but it still reminded me of the old days. It was fun!!

Fortunately the travel guide informed us that Shibuya 109 was for ladies wear and across the street was for men. Level upon level of local designers. My friend bought a few things. I however only bought a pair of boots. Some of the stores are quite similar in styling and range. Worth checking out for sure. Each level usually only has around 4-6 shops which are small enough to be in and out in a minute or two....

Shibuya 109 is one of the shopping havens of Shibuya. If you wish to look like a Japanese doll, then you should try and purchase pretty outfits here. Their winter coats are super cool!

I ve been here twice and a few times in Times Square New York. I still prefer Shibuya. There is no rational reason to explain why but I do think Shibuya is more interesting. The croud crossing, the Hachiko, the stores, the street level light panels, everything here amazes me.

This small but tall shopping mal is a must if you are a girl.
Filled with tiny shops that sell everything from bags, clothes to make up and apparel.

Only negative thing is that when it comes to sizes they are very small the biggest ones equals S/M or 8/10 UK

But worth a look anyways

With a central location in the heart of Shibuya, this is a go-to place for younger women who want to shop trendy and generally affordable clothing. It has a very cute interior, is clean and easy to navigate, and has lots of bathrooms. Staff is friendly and eager to help. For men, it doesn't offer much, but as a young woman I was fascinated by this place.

We spent some time here with a Japanese friend who said it is the nr 1 place among Japanese teen girls. It has lots of tiny shops with colourful clothes aimed exactly at that market segment. We ended up in a place where the girls had fun in a photo booth with editing options. The 'shop' reminded us more of Disney than anything else, but they had good fun.

This cylindrical building is a place people should go to at least once. I found that the bottom levels are mainly more expensive shops and only once you get to the top are there some cheaper ones. Not that I mind these shops; it's just the type of mall it is. It's interesting walking in circles to get to each shop so if you only go for the architectural design then that's something.

I expected it to be cheap but it was more expensive than high street brands. Complete waste of time. I don't understand how people can shop there.
