The area
Address
Neighborhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

Great area in the heart of Shibuya, filled with small stores and restaurants right next to neon lights and Shibuya crossing

This area became popular as an offshoot from the popular Shibuya Crossing, and Hachiko statute. There is a main street that branches out from the crossing and it has lots of tall buildings and shopping. It is called Dogenzaga, but really the attraction in and around Shibuya Station is the crossing and Hachiko.

It's a younger crowd for sure. But this street has lots of surprises. All the buildings have multiple floors, with hidden gems all around. On the street level, it might not be for all. Starting of with 109 shopping centre, shopping home of the 18-25s young pretty things. On dogenzaka there are some amazing restaurants though. There is a great Hawaiian place, open all hours. Lots of Yakiniku places, and very affordable, but interesting places. A mix of all countries food. It could be a bit tacky though on the streets for some.

Yoshinoya, Modiva, Mos burger, as well as unique Mom and Pop dives are all crowded together in this strip of Shibuya. There's even a Krispy Kreme. We frequented this area a lot for quick lunch or breakfast on the way to Shibuya station. Very cheap eats wherever we went, with friendly staff and quick service.

Dogenzaka is situated at the heart of Shibuya. The area is a popular place for the locals, for all ages. And what's more? Restaurants. Over 200 restaurants can be found on Dogenzaka. Japanese, Old Tokyo, Spanish, French, Chinese... you name it. Nice alley with lot of choices to choose. Must go and check it out!

Attended the concert of Tamaki Koji with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra at the Shibuya Orchard Hall, concert was great with many encores, it is great to see such a talent after being part of a group going solo to let those of us enjoy his music, such a great singer! He was so humble on stage, thanking us for coming!

Shops (a big Uniqlo is here) and a variety of restaurants - none special, but a good variety.

Nothing much to say, the streets are busy and crowded with people since that's a shopping district. Added on to the fact that I visited Shibuya during lunch hour, so lunch crowds are also seen everywhere.

Japanese life style, a taste of Japan night life and Love Hotel culture. Day time looks like nothing special some food and lots of people but by night this area transforms and becomes lit up with colorful love hotel signs and lots of people and food.
