一歩足を踏み入れたら、そこは別世界！ 色使いがハデハデです。聞けば、昭和36年に奈良の唐招提寺にある金堂を真似て造ったそうです。確かに唐招提寺も派手な寺です。それはともかく心が浮き浮きしてきます。また金ピカの仏像が異彩を放っています。さらにココで見るべきものは、カヤの木です。高さが18ｍ、幹の周りは６ｍ。デッカい！

真言宗智山派影光山善養密寺は玉真院・玉川大師の二代目住持の実家です！(玉川大師の口コミで間違いがありました。ゴメンなさい)このお寺は京都智積院の末寺で玉川八十八箇所32番及び玉川二一箇所14番の札所で毎月1日には本尊大日如来のご縁日として大護摩供養が行われます。すぐ前は丸子川で大日橋を渡り火除けの神獣、海駝(かいだ)の坐像に出迎えられます。この坐像は世界中で数少ないもので貴重。ここの本堂は唐招提寺金堂を模したもので立派です！平成10年、善養寺400年記念として梵鐘と梵鐘堂が完成しました。本堂の前の立派な榧(かや)の木は豪族の娘が助けた沢蟹親子の恩返し伝説があり沢蟹や蛙、かっぱの石像があります。すぐそばにある六所神社の神輿堂や閻魔堂はもともとこの地にあったそうで一体感を感じます。ここの大阿闍梨は玉川大師二代目住持のお兄さんで今回お会いすることが出来なかったのですがよく玉川大師に来られて睨まれたのを思い出します。ともかくも閑静な静寂をまとった寺院です。玉川大師お参りの際にも歩いて行ける距離なので訪れて見てください。

野毛の善養寺は「せたがや百景」にも選定されている綺麗なお寺です。
唐招提寺様式の本堂前には金色の大きな仏様、境内には日本の仏教様式に留まらない様々な石像物が置かれています。

等々力の多摩川沿いにある寺院ですが、何といっても特徴は様々な石碑。入口付近の中華風の石像、東南アジアのような金色の仏像、インドの像の神、そして河童や蛙の石像など。アジアの様々な文化が詰まっています。また、国内でも二番目に大きいカヤの木も神秘的な雰囲気を醸し出していました。

世田谷区野毛2丁目に、江戸時代からあるお寺、樹齢700年以上と言われるカヤの木が有ります。また、多摩川の精のカッパや多摩川の女神の亀がおりまして、アー有難や有難や〜〜。

等々力不動（満願寺別院）、ここ（善養密寺）、玉川大師（玉真院）は頑張れば歩いて回れます。善養密寺と玉真院は兄弟寺だそうで、仏像等の並びに節操がない感じがよく似ています。普通の寺では見かけないものが沢山あって楽しいです。わざわざ来るかというと首をひねりますが、等々力渓谷に来たら、更に野毛古墳を見て、ここまでは足を延ばしてみてください。更に頑張って玉川大師へ。

正確には「密」が入って善養密寺というようです。彫像などの造りは大きく色使いの派手なものもあり見ていて楽しいです。

とてもユニークなお寺です。石像が多くあり、カッパやカエル、羊、韓国にありそうなものまで賑やか。カヤの木は樹齢700年以上の東京都の天然記念物です。見るだけで楽しくなります。

ジョギングがてら訪問。丸子川沿いにある寺院です。
大きな石像が幾つもあり独特の雰囲気があります。赤い橋を渡って石段を上ると、海駝（かいだ）という一対の石像があります。中々お目にかかる事のない珍しい神獣像だそうです。その他も珍しいのか不自然なのか、大きな石像がとにかく独特です。
樹齢800年というカヤの御神木がありこれは見事です。

よくあるお寺の雰囲気とはかなり違います。境内の狛犬やら石像やらがやたらビッグサイズで、しかも数も多いためかと思われます。慣れていない小さい子供は泣き出すかも知れないと思いました。境内の真ん中の大榧の木は、かなりの大木でかなり立派です。一部では垂れ下がった枝の葉が地面まで届いていました。
