My friend and I got to the temple around closing time. It was raining and cold which made the experience kinda eerie. Felt like it was a beginning to a horror movie. If you’re into that I recommend going when it’s raining and dark!

As many reviewers have said before, this is a great Buddhist temple, excellently maintained, a bit away from tourist mainstream and thus serene - I was there on a rainy weekday morning and it was nicely empty and calm (but not deserted - some tourists,...More

Admittedly didn't know much about the temple aside from the maneki neko, but it's a really nice peaceful temple! A bit of a walk from Gotokuji Temple. Make sure to enter at the main entrance.

Loved this temple! Obviously the highlight is the plethora of lucky cats, but the adjoining cemetery is spectacular. If you’re looking for souvenirs, there is shop on site selling the lucky cats. We brought home four of them and still wish we had more.

A 12-minute walk from Odakyu's Gotokuji Station which is just 15 minutes from Shinjuku on trains bound for Hon-Atsugi 本厚木. It's much closer to Tokyu Line's Miyanosaka Station 宮の坂. Exit Gotokuji Station & walk left past Famima along a small shopping street with cat flags....More

I hope it would not be too late to answer your question. Taking a train to Gotokuji Temple is easier than taking a tram. You take a local or semi-express train of the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku Station and get off at Gotokuji... More
