The area
Neighborhood: Haneda / Kamata
Haneda / Kamata is known for its airport with many hotels popping up with the increase in international flights. It’s also an area that offers many shrines and temples with ancient origins including Anamori Inari Shrine or Ikegami Honmonji temple which is visited by more than 300,000 people in October's Buddhist Oeshiki festival. The area around Kamata station is lined with restaurants and is lively until late at night. In particular, it’s known for the large collection of tasty gyoza specialists.

While going to the local convenience store for cooling soba noodles on a hot rainy day after my arrival last summer, I happened upon this cute statue of what I thought was a dog. OK! Now I see it's a fox. Well he or she was wearing a raincoat, which was adorable. Kon-chan is ready for all weather, by the looks of the other photos! He may not be as visited as Hachiko, and no one seems to know his significance, but he's a quirky fun addition to the local scene!

Fox statue is located just outside of station entrance, but it may be easy to miss it. No explanation of statue is written.
