Haneda / Kamata is known for its airport with many hotels popping up with the increase in international flights. It’s also an area that offers many shrines and temples with ancient origins including Anamori Inari Shrine or Ikegami Honmonji temple which is visited by more than 300,000 people in October's Buddhist Oeshiki festival. The area around Kamata station is lined with restaurants and is lively until late at night. In particular, it’s known for the large collection of tasty gyoza specialists.

Due to flight delays I was in Haneda Airport for an extended period. Clean toilets, lots of food choices, comfortable seating area and connected to an airport hotel... these made our airport stay a pleasant one.

United Airlines had given us the Immigration and Custom forms to complete before arrival. The Immigration Station was a long walk from the arrival gate. There were long hallways and turns and more hallways. There were signs all along the way. There were moving walkways all the way to the Immigration Station and Restrooms along the way. The Immigration Station was well staff and the lines moved very fast. The baggage area with free luggage carts was the next stop after leaving Immigration. Luggage carts are not permitted within three feet of the baggage carousel. Once all the baggage is claim Customs must be cleared before leaving the Baggage Area into the Arrival Area of the terminal. There are two ATM on the outside of the Customs Check Point to the Left in the Arrival Area just a little behind the Custom Area Wall. Straight to the left is the Bus Ticket Office that sells tickets for all the bus lines that leaves from the airport. Straight ahead in the center is a Information Center. To the Right are Vending Machines for Bus Tickets and Train Tickets. The Train Station is also on the Right side.

The Bus Station is on the lower floor of the airport. Take the last bank of elevators at the rear of the airport to the ground level. The Bus Line have Stop Numbers. Yokohama City Airline Terminal (YCAT) is a hub that connects with both airports, others cities, hotels, buses, trains and cabs. YCAT is in the middle of Yokohama.

As a frequent traveler, I spend a lot of time in airports. Haneda was like no airport I've ever visited.

It's not just that there are pretty/aesthetic elements -Vancouver is prettier. It's not just that staff /airline personnel are friendly and helpful - Dublin is friendlier. its not just that it's incredibly clean - lots of other airports top this one. The interesting thing for me is that this airport is nearly silent. The ticketing /check-in areas are quiet as a library. Thousands of busy travelers, and it's eerily quiet. You need to keep your voice down so you don't seem rude.

The other unique facet to this airport pertains to check-in time. I. So Cal, we arrive at LAX 2 hours early for domestic flights, 3 hours early for international (attached least that's the airport recommendation - go earlier or later at your personal preference). Here, the check-in counters don't even OPEN until 90 minutes before departure. Imagine our surprise arriving 3 hours prior to departure to wait an hour and a half at a closed ticket counter. Be mindful of this - arriving early does NOT necessarily give you a chance to dump your bags and do some shopping or last minute sight-seeing. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars here is because of our inconvenient wait to check in for our flight home.

If you have time to visit the observation deck, do se. Great views watching the planes arrive and depart.

Great food options here, and clean bathrooms. Ridiculously NICE bathrooms, puts the US to shame. I was surprised to see little urinals in the women's restroom -- for little boys who use the restroom with moms. Also, the toilet stalls are equipped with a BIDET, and those bidets include sounds, fragrances, and various rinse options. Fascinating!

Very convenience airport. There are several shops and restaurants. The restroom are clean and plenty.

There is a observation deck that you can enjoy nice airport view and look at the airplane take off and landing.

10 stars if possible! This is BY FAR my favorite lounge in any airport in the world. The pork shoumai are things of dreams and the other food (including Japanese curry and sandwiches) are also very good.

Showers and clean restrooms are always available and the drink selection is solid - beer on tap and at least three kinds of whiskey at any given time.

A true delight before a long flight.

Please remember if you are a alliance member of any other airlines apart from a Japanese carrier then the equality disappears.

Haneda Airport has three terminal buildings and four runways. The airport is one of the busiest in the world so planes are constantly coming and going. Haneda recommenced international service fairly recently (2010) and some interesting international airlines fly in and out of Haneda but not as much as Narita. The best photographic location is from the international terminal observation deck or from the JAL terminal depending where the sun is. The ANA terminal also has a huge observation deck that looks out on to one of the four runways. Haneda is well worth visiting due to its close proximity to Tokyo City if you have arrived into the city from Narita airport. We visited Haneda on five separate occasions and will go back again in the future for sure.

Great staff? - yep. I forgot a very expensive Seiko watch that we purchased at the airport shop on one of the chairs. By the time I realized it, I had reached HKG and was waiting for my connecting flight back home. I got the airport number from the website, called them and informed about my lost package (which also had some perfumes and cosmetics along with the watch). Next day I get an email from them that the package was found and has been dispatched. I received my stuff within 2 days of my travel! Thank you so much the staff at Haneda & Cathay Pacific.

Haneda Airport in Tokyo is relatively small, easy to navigate, has all you need and is family-friendly.
