The area
Neighborhood: Haneda / Kamata
Haneda / Kamata is known for its airport with many hotels popping up with the increase in international flights. It’s also an area that offers many shrines and temples with ancient origins including Anamori Inari Shrine or Ikegami Honmonji temple which is visited by more than 300,000 people in October's Buddhist Oeshiki festival. The area around Kamata station is lined with restaurants and is lively until late at night. In particular, it’s known for the large collection of tasty gyoza specialists.

Haneda airport was so easy to get around. The staff in customs were friendly. There was so many fun shops as well as designer shops. The food court was incredible so many different options and by fair the cleanest one I have been too. The whole airport is perfectly clean. The bathrooms by far the cleanest public washrooms I have ever been to. Even their smoking rooms are very nice and there were so many of them (Im not even a smoker). They have airport hotels available in the actual terminals which is very handy. Free Wifi worked great and lots of Massage chairs that cost very little to use. I think is would be my favourite airport out of all of our travels.

Free observation deck on top floor. Lots of shopping on site. Many outstanding restaurants facing airside. If you are waiting for your flight and have lots of time, stay on the terminal side before security. So much to do and look at !!! Less places to eat after security and the better restaurants are before security.

Usually when I fly to Tokyo I fly into Narita. This time as the fares where cheaper to Haenda we decided to take a flight there. Very nice airport. Easy to get to much closer to central Tokyo. Not sure why I havent flown here before. I will definitely use this airport next time

Came in and everything was closed it was only 2200hrs. Airport was empty due to COVID but it still was not a good experience with everything closed. Had no choice in coming here but it was an experience non the least. We came we saw and we flew on.

Just used the domestic terminal which is easy to get to and has short security lines with friendly staff (vs US). ANA lounge open with beer (cool dispenser), whisky and sake (not a good one), soft drinks and only rice crackers for a snack. Healthy green drink avail but a bit hard to get it down.

Haneda is Tokyo’s sister airport to Narita and is primarily for domestic flights.
If you have time go to the airport sky deck for fresh air and a view.
As an English only speaker it was easy to navigate and there are lots of people who can help. And then there’s always google translator.

I knew that if I searched I would find a shower facility at the Haneda Air Terminal. But, like everything in Japan, the reality far outweighed our expectations!! After checking out from the Tokyo Hilton Bay Hotel (please see my review on that hotel) in the morning and spending our last day at Tokyo Disney Sea all day, we felt grimy and sweaty, and didn't look forward to sitting in a plane for seven hours on our way home. We knew there was some type of shower at the airport so we packed a change of clothes ahead of time. We arrived at the airport and we couldn't check in yet, so I told my hubby and teenage son to look for the shower on the second floor while I watched our luggage (it's so safe in Japan & the airport provides free wifi for 3 hours). They returned so happy and clean. My son exclaimed, "Mom, you're going to really like it, they have Shiseido products!" Well, it was the best $10 for 30 minutes that I ever spent!! It's very easy to find as the sign simply states, "SHOWER." The staff was very helpful and thankfully spoke English. Each personal room is immaculate with clean towels, Shiseido shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, and a blow dryer. I was so thankful to feel clean for my flight. As I exited my room, I saw a staff member scrubbing another room to be readied for another customer. I wish every airport would have a clean shower facility like at Haneda.

I would like to recommend Keisei Tokyo Shuttle Bus to travel from Narita Airport to Tokyo. I just spent only 900 yen this one-way service. The bus stopped in front of Tokyo Station, which the Tokyo Metro (Subway) was across the street.

If you must be stuck at an airport, Haneda is good place to feel the void. Nice lounge areas with reclinig chairs w/charge stations, wide variety of shops with goods and Japans favorite treats in ready decorative tins and boxes. Duty Free with plenty of options and even online predepature orders w/in airport pick-up

Haneda Airport has three terminal buildings and four runways. The airport is one of the busiest in the world so planes are constantly coming and going. Haneda recommenced international service fairly recently (2010) and some interesting international airlines fly in and out of Haneda but not as much as Narita. The best photographic location is from the international terminal observation deck or from the JAL terminal depending where the sun is. The ANA terminal also has a huge observation deck that looks out on to one of the four runways. Haneda is well worth visiting due to its close proximity to Tokyo City if you have arrived into the city from Narita airport. We visited Haneda on five separate occasions and will go back again in the future for sure.

Depending on if you ordered it in advance they should tell you exactly where to go. For me it was on the top floor of Haneda on the left side. Looks like they ship mail there or something, but the Portable Wi-Fi i reserved was there :)

We have a three hour layover in Tokyo Sunday evening. We are flying coach but are there lounges for ANA customers that can be purchased?

Not sure, but it is a very nice terminal with lots of seating in the gate lounges and a shopping area upstairs. Coffee shops, restaurants also but not a great number. You need to be there at least 2 hours before flight out anyway, so find a comfy seat and read a book.

My flight arrives from Sydney at 5.15 am but i can't check into my hotel in Shinjuku till 2pm. We are 3 adults and need a room only for 6 or 7 hrs to rest. What would you suggest? Do you give out rooms on an hourly rate?

Most hotels will accommodate an early check-in if you call and speak with them. Usually not all rooms are booked every night, and if they are some guests depart early enough they can clean a room and have it available for an early check in.
Take into account deplaning, customs, getting to the taxi-stand and drive time to the hotel and you are likely looking at arrival there at 8 AM at the earliest. And if you have breakfast even later.

How long will it take to clear customs at 6am? (disembark from plane, go through immigration, collect luggage, go through quarantine)

Singapore, Singapore432 contributions
Hi KidFromBossley. How long it takes really depends on what you are planning to bring into the country and whether you have all the necessary forms filled prior to arrival.
Personal experience, it took me 45 mins to get through. 15 mins to disembark from front portion of plane and walk to the terminal. Got stuck at immigration because I missed out 1 form. Took me another 5 mins to fill and rejoin the queue (2 deep, total 10 mins). Baggage took a bit longer than I expected (but it was a full flight) 20 mins, but custom only took 5 mins as I was travelling very light on business and had nothing more than 3 days full of clothes. The officer talked a little before releasing me.
But I guess everyone will have a different experience as much depends on what you are going to Japan for and how much luggage you are bringing with you.

My husband & I are going on a family trip and will be staying at a hotel at Haneda Airport the night before we leave. All the family, except us, will leaving from that airport, but we are going out of NRT. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the easiest way with luggage to go from me to the other and how long should we allow for travel? It is a morning flight.

Hi. It is a long drive so you need to leave ample time,if you are going in rush hour 3 hours would not be unreasonable I think
