Neighborhood: Haneda / Kamata
Haneda / Kamata is known for its airport with many hotels popping up with the increase in international flights. It’s also an area that offers many shrines and temples with ancient origins including Anamori Inari Shrine or Ikegami Honmonji temple which is visited by more than 300,000 people in October's Buddhist Oeshiki festival. The area around Kamata station is lined with restaurants and is lively until late at night. In particular, it’s known for the large collection of tasty gyoza specialists.

The Haneda Airport Shrine is located at the end of a narrow corridor and not really as impressive as we hoped it to be.
We preferred the Festival Plaza on the 5th floor of Haneda's Terminal 3, where you can pray by writing your whish on an Ema wooden plaque and hang it on the wall for luck.

We flew from Dubai to Tokyo with Emirates and landed in Haneda instead of Narita that is the preferred airport for most of the international flights. The arrival terminal is very minimal but efficient. We landed, passed through immigration and collected our baggage in less than 20 minutes. There is a high speed wifi that I successfully used to call home with Skype without any trouble.
The departure terminal is all-right. Compared to Emirates Terminal 3 in Dubai it seems really nothing, but it offers enough souvenirs shops and restaurants to spend easily 1 hour. Please note that some shops close at 10 p.m. There are a lot of seats available and therefore it is very easy to find a place to rest while waiting for boarding.
The airport is perfectly connected with the monorail that takes passengers to Hamamatsucho station that has interlinks with the Yamamote Line, other JR lines, subway etc.
Just note that if you have bought a JR Exchange Order in advance, the JR office to convert it with the actual JR Pass closes at 18.30 Tokyo time, hence you will be asked to pay for the monorail ride if you land after that time.
Since you will be visiting hundreds shrines in Japan, you can easily skip this one.

It seems as if many reviewers put their review of the airport here, instead of the airport shrine. This is about the shrine... Whether you knew you were walking into a shrine or not, this space should make the person who is wandering through the airport stop and slow down for a minute. A pleasant and peaceful place, adorned with beauty and accented with words of wisdom, those that walk through should easily sense the serenity that this haven offers amidst the hustle and bustle of the airport. This is well worth visiting, if but for a moment.

Open area, several food courts, shopping at expensive high end stores, plenty of seating, free, fast unlimited Internet; a easy place to spend a few hours while waiting for flights. International connections are made very easy, with limited walking/worry. Flight/arrival information sites are small and descret. Washrooms are amazing; clean, and easily marked. Many lounges to head to as well. Several small smoking rooms are spread out for those who need such things.

It is located behind the post office of Haneda Airport Terminal 1. Turn right at the corner beyond Power Lounge Central. It's a corner of the building, and it's hard to tell. There are few visitors, but the offerings are always different, so I think someone is in charge. I have visited and asked him to thank me for the safety of my last trip and pray for the safety of this one.

It is located quietly behind the post office on the 1st floor of Haneda Airport Terminal 1. Before I go on a trip, I always ask for safety on my trip and for getting rid of the coronavirus. In particular, this time I will be flying JAL's Airbus A350, the same type of plane that suffered a major fire in January and all passengers were safe, so I prayed that everyone would be safe.
