幕末の大物、新見正興豊前守の墓があります。

日米修好通商条約特使としてアメリカに派遣された外国奉行新見正興の墓があります。日本では彼は帰国後もさほど重用されませんでしたが、アメリカにおける当時の彼らの行動様式・精神性は大変大きな感銘を与えたようで、二人の駐日米国大使が墓参りをしております。ローランド・モリス氏とダグラス・マッカーサー二世です。

願正寺

願正寺は、1590年に現在の千代田区霞が関あたりに創建され、1718年に牛込原町へ移転、
1910年（明治43年）に当地へ移転しました。東本願寺を本山とする、浄土真宗の宗派である真宗大谷派の寺院です。幕末の幕臣、新見正興の墓所でもあります。新見正興は、幕末の859年に外国奉行に抜てきされ、日米修好通商条約の批准書を交換する特派使節の大役を帯びて渡米、ワシントンでアメリカ大統領に会見して大任を無事に果たした人物です。

新見豊前守正興の墓所があります

このお寺は遣米使節の新見豊前守正興の墓所がありました。お寺が連なるところの奥まったところにあるため少しわかりにくいが、その分静かで落ち着いたお寺です。

日米合同慰霊法要の記念碑

昭和35年５月24日、願正寺で日米合同慰霊法要が行われ、その時の祈念碑が墓地の片隅にあります。その時の参加者はアメリカ大使・ダグラスマッカーサー、東京都知事・東龍太郎、財界から石坂泰三、徳川家から徳川家正ら関係者多数が参加されました。同時に植樹も行われました。

日米修好通商条約特使として渡米した新見豊前守正興の墓があります

寺町の上高田にある東光山願正寺万延元年(1860)に日米修好通商条約特使として渡米した新見豊前守正興の墓があります。中野区教育委員会の掲示版によりますとこの墓に大正7年にアメリカ全権大使のモーリス、昭和35年に駐日大使のマッカーサー二世が訪れ、正興の墓に花を捧げたそうです。

落合駅北西の真宗大谷派のお寺

住宅地の細い路地の奥にある。石造の山門があり、その奥に木造の本堂がひっそりと立っている。境内はあまり広くないが、高い木々もあり静かである。天正18年（1590）に創建、その後、こちらに移転してきた。

中野区の上高田にある真宗大谷派の寺院で、東護山法樹院と号します。重厚な印象のある本殿です。万延元年の遣米使節を勤めた新見豊前守正興の墓があります。
