21 21 Design Sight is just few minutes’ walk to Tokyo Midtown so usually I will stop by to see if there’s any interesting exhibitions. The gallery shop and entrance is on the ground floor and the main exhibition hall is located on the basement. The building’s roof top appeared as a kite shaped facing downwards and it’s an eye... Nice architecture by Tadao Ando, but the museum isn't actually that big, it really only does a single exhibit at a time with no available archive or permanent collection. As a result, your enjoyment will really depend on the show that's on when you visit... I wasn't bowled over by the one I saw, but it changes every few months... More

The location is easy to get, the building is beautiful. There is no permanent collection, but the Ando architecture of the building itself is worth a visit.

There was a Frank Gehry retrospective when I was there and the museum displayed the various building models, thought process and works of Gehry beautifully. Very interesting architecture with the majority of the museum underground. Very close to Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown area.

Tadao Ando design hence great use of concrete and light. Always interesting well curated exhibitions. Next door to a great open space behind Tokyo Midtown, with interesting shops and food outlets. Busy on week ends with local families.

Within walking distance from the Roponggi station (just follow directions scattered in the station and outside, otw to the place, roughly 15 mins walk), it's in a chi chi area of Roponggi. The place itself is not big, but the exhibition they had when I visited (design anatomy) was an eye-opener, nicely curated, and bilingual. They have a small gift... More

Great design by Ando. It's a nice sight to visit while in Tokyo. Has a nice garden surrounding that is really relaxing in many ways.

Great modern building by Ando who seems to build all of the great modern gallery buildings in Japan. Very interesting exhibition about the interface between engineering and design. Well worth a visit.

The building, from Tadao Ando, is interesting.... but the entrance fee was quite expensive for the exhibition displayed (civil engineer). Ok if you are around the area and have money and time to spend.

Who thinks a civil engineering show would fascinate a 60+ Aussie woman? Though I had my suspicions I had a wonderful time and learned a lot. That's always my experience here: even if I think it's unlikely I always find the shows here beautifully researched, curated and presented. There are always adults and children here: the exhibitions seem so well... More
