I already have done experience cooking Japanese food, but Mai figured out a menu that would be interesting for me and would introduce new dishes to my repertoire that would help me prepare my son's bento every day. She was very helpful, knowledgeable and kind. She is also health conscious, which I very much appreciate.

Mai san was very encouraging and also very friendly. She is such a lovely sensei and you can feel the passion in her while she introduced the art of sushi making to me. Notes in English were provided and her explanation was very clear. It was most commendable that she took an effort to think about ingredients that will be available for me back home so that i would be able to repeat the dish with ease! Thank you Mai Sensei !! I would love to learn from you again!

My husband and I signed up for Mai's Inner Beauty Bento class in March 2017. We spent two wonderful hours learning how to cook more than seven dishes for our bento box. Mai is not only friendly and approachable, but she is also well-versed in
the art of Japanese cooking. Besides providing fresh quality ingredients for the meal, Mai also gave us souvenirs which we could take home to try making our own bento lunch. Overall it was a meaningful and enjoyable experience we would recommend for anyone who is interested in cooking healthy Japanese food.

Joined this wonderful class on a Saturday and had a pleasant time from start to finish!
The class started with an easy to understand explanation from Mai-san on the components needed for the bento. We then proceeded to divide into groups, each making the required items for the final packing. Mai-san's instructions were super helpful and there's always something new to learn during the entire process. The group of attendees in the class were lively and came from different backgrounds, which makes it all the more interesting to also learn about various cultures while you cook up a storm.
Would definitely come again to the next class! Highly recommended!

ハラールレシピジャパンのまいさんによって開催されたお料理教室に参加させていただきました。\(^o^)/
今回はお弁当教室のモニター体験会でした!
So today, I participated in the free trial of Japanese Bento class which was held by Halal Recipes Japan, and tried making the Japanese style 'inner beauty' Bento (and it was first time for me *o*)
Such a fantastic cooking class, that we got to learn not only how to cook Japanese dishes (for the Bento) but also the technique to arrange them in the box so that they look attractive and .... photogenic (?) XD
(oh and we also had a brief lecture about what is 'Japanese healthy food' and the points to make 'inner beauty' Bento before we start cooking.)
とてもおいしくて楽しい体験会になりました!!
ありがとうございます!

まごはやさしい MaGoWaYaSaShiI. My grandchild is nice.... what is this phrase have to do with bento making?
NOTHING!!! hehe... It's just food element from each two alphabets of the word, and yes it is connected to food included in the bento we'd made.
Back to the event, bento.
I had so much fun in preparing the bento (^o^).
Only in Bento class you can cook more than 5 Japanese dishes. And that's a lot!
So cute, yet tasty. With lot's of japanese style dishes.
Mai-san carefully explain to us the process of making and preserving the food, so that we can plan the lunches ahead.
She also thoughtfully told us how to take good pictures of our bentos. Of course that's the most important part. All of us want our lunch boxes look pretty just like in magazines.
(I still have to work on packing all 10 side dishes into that small box, though)
Overall, it was fun and tasty experience.
Bye! (Getting back on eating the bento)

Bento has been a popular culture recently, and having the opportunity
to learn to make it by myself, especially in a Halal, authentic, Japanese way is such a memorable experience!
Mai-san is an easy going person and our group had fun-filled cooking activities for the total 3 hours spent. It started with a short theory session on the history, principle and information on bento making, then continued with the cooking lesson. We were divided into smaller groups and cook the given task together, following the instructions on the note given earlier, and of course with the guidance by Mai-san. We ended the class feasting ourselves with the cutely decorated bento, and can't help but feeling proud that we did them ourselves!
If you are into Japanese food and want to learn to cook by yourself, Mai's Kitchen is the place, especially if you are a Muslim. All the cooking materials used are Halal with separate utensils, and there is even a small space to perform solat at her place.

I joined Mai-san's cooking class twice, and this is about my experience with the bento (Japanese lunch box) cooking class. It was held in a nice, quiet place in Asakusabashi. The place was not far from the station, about 5 minutes walking. We didn't have to bring anything, the ingredients and utensils are prepared. And of course, all the ingredients used are halal.
Before the cooking is started, Mai-san gave us short tips about Japanese culture in making bento, and explained about the secret of a healthy and delicious Japanese cooking. After that, we were divided into groups of three and prepared about 3-4 dishes each group!
After the cooking is done, Mai-san taught us how to arrange the foods into the bento box, taking into account the colour of the food so that the appearance of the bento looks appetizing. Mai-san also taught us how to keep the foods in the refrigerator so that we don't have to cook the foods in the morning every time before preparing the bento.
We then ate the foods we made together and had a nice chat. We prepared quite many vegetable-based foods that day, and I am actually not really fond of veggies, but honestly all of the foods we made were delicious and I finished all of them!
Mai-san's cooking class gave me not only unforgettable, different experience, but also a very useful knowledge. As a woman, I will become a mother in the future (someday, I hope, lol), and when the time comes, I want to be at least prepared to make them a healthy and appetizing bento when my future kids (lol) are out for school, for example.
Visiting sightseeing spots is surely interesting, but if you want more than beautiful pictures from your trip to Japan, why not joining Mai-san's cooking class and bringing home special experience that can be treasured forever?
