こちらは、東京都中央区佃のリバーシティ21の1階にあるIHIの資料館で無料で入れます。
残念ながら館内は写真撮影がNGでした。
創業当初の石川島造船所から現代までの歴史を、石川島・佃島の歴史や文化とともに、貴重な資料や当時を再現したジオラマ模型などで紹されており、とても興味深かく、現在の景観から当時の工業地帯を想像することはできません。

現在のリバーシティのおしゃれなイメージからは、ここに工場や造船所があったとは思えないのですが、マンションの中にあるこの資料館で昔の写真を見れば、おおっ！と思わず見入って、納得できます。三井不動産とURに工場跡地を譲渡して再開発したんですね。遠くからわざわざ見に行くほどではないですが、近辺にお住まいの方はいかがでしょうか。なお週二日しかOPENしていないので、その点は注意が必要です。

佃島・月島界隈を散策した際に寄ってみました。ビルのかなり奥にあり場所は見つけにくかったです。ようやく見つけたと思ったら、水曜日と土曜日の午前10時から12時までと午後1時から5時までしか開いていないそうで、私が行ったときには閉まっていました。入口から見える部分だけしか見ることができなかったのが残念でした。もう少し開館日を増やしてほしいと思いました。

隅田川にかかる中央大橋の東詰、ピア・ウエストビル151号室にある石川島播磨重工業のPR室。
訪ねたのは5月20日、金曜日。
住所を頼りに探し当てたが、開いているのは水、土の2日のみ。
窓もカーテンで締め切られていて、まったく中の様子も見えなかった。

リバーシティ２１の敷地内にあります。ピアウエストスクエア１階にありますが、道路からだと階段を上がって中に進まないといけないのでわかりにくいです。

幕末の創業の地が高層住宅街に変わり、豊洲からも造船所だけでなく工場が移転してますが、石川島の跡地にコンパクトな展示を継続するのは粋な計らい。豊洲で護衛艦が眺められた頃が偲ばれます。

展示スペースは小さいものの、会社の歴史とあわせて、高度成長期にそこで働いた人々の暮らしの展示も興味深かったです。しかし、創業の地での展示にしては物足りなさは否めず、撮影禁止は極めて残念です。
定年退職された技術職の方がボランティアで常駐され説明いただければ、何時間でもお話を聞きたいと思いました。
