Easily added to your visit to the fish market, but there is not much to do there, while the building itself is contrasting to the neighboring structures, it’s mainly a photo op.

Very interesting tour, with loads of information on the Nakagin Capsule Tower and Metabolism in general. Our guide Mari san was very knowledgeable and forthcoming with very relevant information about this and other similar buildings in Japan. Given that the tower is no longer owned...More

The Nakagin Capsule Tower is a mixed-use residential and office tower designed by the iconic architect Kisho Kurokawa and located in Shimbash, near Ginza. Go and see it before they demolishes the building. The hot water to the building was shut off in 2010.

This abandoned capsule tower might have been an interesting and innovative building once upon a time, but now it's basically just a ruin. Its rundown state though is in itself fascinating, giving a vibe of dystopian future. Worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood.

Unfortunately, the iconic building is in bad repair. Comprised of (individually-owned) studio pods, it was futuristic in the 1970s. But, a since some of the owners want to tear it down and build a more profitable building on this valuable Ginza land, it has received...More

The building is a place for architecture students who are interested in metabolism architecture in Japan. It’s the only one that still existed and worth studying. It’s hard to get into the building without permission. We asked the showcase Tokyo architecture to offer us a...More

Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's
also a downtown area with shops that were founded over
a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury
boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza.
It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll
while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels,
world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a
collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular

The Nakagin Capsule Tower Preservation and Restoration Project offer tours. I can't seem to post links here, but search for "中銀カプセルタワー見学ツアー". Try contacting them if you're interested. It's normally restricted to residents.
