Jimbocho is a great area of Tokyo, not as busy or rushed as other areas. The best thing about this area is the plethora of used and new book stores, shop and read to your hearts content!

First of all, most books here are in Japanese, obviously. Still, this is a perfect spot to visit if you love books as objects of wonder and wisdom. We walked around the main street and wondered insided a few of the biggest and weirdest looking...More

I just happened to be right there, so I walked around a bit. Every shop for several blocks is selling books. I do not read Japanese, so didn't go in but it was interesting!

My son visits book stores wherever we travel to, both in the U.S. and abroad. This place is perfect for him to look for some books as he will be taking Japanese next fall in college. There were non-Japanese book stores as well, which I...More

My teenage grandson and I enjoyed visiting a half dozen bookstores in and around Jimbocho. The rare book stores and print galleries caught my attention and he spent hours browsing at eh cartoon books and games.

A whole street lined with book shops and stalls, old DVDs on sale, too! However, they seem to be second hand books. In between stalls are a variety of restaurants, confess shops and drug stores.

All the books are in Japanese, it's loads of fun to walk around and play like you know what it all means. Nearby are guitar shops and outdoor shops and that's fun.

Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting
with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day
Japanese education. The area has kept its college town
feel with several university campuses. If you head
towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and
sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores
for students and anyone interested in literature and
the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and

Sorry I'm late I've been travelling. It's very much hit or miss. The bookshops don't specialise in Doll books. You need to allow a few hours to browse the store hoping to find what you've looking for.
