こちらは、お茶の水仲通りを、NTT駿河台の前からニコライ堂西門前に上る坂で、綺麗に整備された坂です。
坂を上りつめた日大病院の所に池田市之丞の屋敷があったので池田坂といわれているそうです。

お茶の水仲通りにある坂道です．坂の両端は大学のビルとなっていました．坂の途中には名前が表示されていて，迷うことはないと思います．

JR御茶ノ水駅南側のお茶の水仲通りや近くにはいろいろの坂があり、歩き回るのも面白いところです。
お茶の水仲通りは、東側の本郷通りと西側の明大通りに挟まれ、人通りが少なく店もなくとても静かな通りなのでぶらぶら歩きに向いている と思います。
ところで、この池田坂だが程良い傾斜で、お茶の水仲通りのうち最も坂になっている一区画・１００数十ｍのところを呼んでいる と思います。
途中にある標柱の説明書きによると、「この坂に面して九百石取りの旗本池田家の屋敷があったことから名付けられました。」とあり、よくある坂名の付け方だ と思います。
この坂は、坂らしく程良い傾斜があるがぶらぶら歩いていると、上りが一寸大変なところかなぁ～ と感じる位です。
ここ池田坂の坂上は、雁木坂との交差点で、坂下が甲賀坂との交差点なので、併せてぶらぶら歩いてみては如何でしょう。

JR御茶ノ水駅聖橋口に近い、通称ニコライ堂の西門前からは下る坂です。周りには有名大学や病院が並び、平日の午後に行ったせいか、白衣を着た人を多く見かけました。本郷通など大通りからは1本入った道なので、緑が多く交通量は少なめで、坂を下ると太田姫稲荷に至ります。

明治大学前を通る大通りと違って、１本中に入った小ぶりな通りが「池田坂」にあたります。中央大学記念館と日本大学理工学部の間の何ともアカデミックな坂道、さらに坂上には聖ニコライ堂の西門前に出ます。元禄時代に池田市之亟の屋敷があったことから名付けられたようです。秋から冬にかけて似合いそうな坂道です。

JR御茶ノ水駅付近の駿河台、日大病院前を通る坂道です。この付近には・・・・坂と言う通りが多く存在するのですが、実際に傾斜を伴うものは少なく、この池田坂は、はっきりと坂道であることが分かる道路となっています。学生の姿を多く見かける通りです。

御茶ノ水駅から日本大学歯学部へと歩く道筋にある。
江戸時代、旗本の池田屋敷があったことによる。
坂を下りると太田姫稲荷神社がある。
緑の並木が整備されていて、学生街らしい雰囲気もある。

ニコライ堂の前の通りに池田坂の標識が立っていました。完全に生活道路の一端となっており特に車で通行すると何の変哲も無い道路と云えそうでした。歴史的な通りのようで、訪問当日は開設者付きの散策グループの姿が目に付きました。

御茶ノ水駅から歩いて数分、日大病院とかのあたりの坂です。平日は学生や予備校生でにぎわっていますが、土日はかなり静かになります。結構緩い坂なので、名付けるほどでもない気がします。
