I loved the gallery! The colors of the paintings, incredible works of art. And the best, Angelina Quic and Antonio Coché, painters, kind, warm. With a joy to show what they do. The place is beautiful, you can easily spend more than 1 hour looking at the details of the paintings. I brought 3 little ones from Guatemalan women. Grateful for the good vibes of the place. I will return to Guatemala this year, and I will visit them again.

What a beautiful space with the nicest owner/artists and magnificent work. Bought an incredible painting of the artists sister and her friend that is the centerpiece of my art collection. Quality work and great prices. Highly recommend.

We have bought three of Angelina's paintings to date. She is extraordinarily talented as well as being a friendly, welcoming person. A recent acquisition was a large "La Ultima Cena" (The Last Supper). I took the painting to church for Holy Week; it was placed in front of the altar. Many in the congregation commented on the beautiful colors, striking composition and sophisticated brush work. Few of them have been to Guatemala or knew much about the country or its people; Angelina's work was truly a revelation to them. Go to her gallery. You will be impressed.
PS The gallery has many works by other artists. So there is something for everyone.

I return year after year to visit Galeria de Arte Chiya to see and buy the work of Angelina Quic and her husband Antonio Coche Mendoza and their extended family. I first met Angelina and Antonio in 2007 or perhaps a few years earlier when their daughter was a young girl. Angelina was one of the first woman painters in San Juan La Laguna, if not the first. Her husband Antonio Coche Mendoza is a oil painter of Mayan NaĂŻve art and she learned from him but created her own style. I was especially attracted to the overhead "bird's eye" view of coffee picking, markets and other traditional San Juan La Laguna scenes, that were fairly unique when I first met her. The style has been widely copied, but I still like her work the best. There are other styles of oil paintings in the gallery painted by Antonio, and his brothers,Julian, Domingo, Gregorio and other friends and neighbors who are painters. I saw Angelina's daughter again today, she has grown up and now is studying industrial design at the university. I can't wait to see what kind of things she will design, coming from such an artistic family. I hope you will enjoy visiting their gallery as much as I have over the years.

I have her food paintings in my kitchen. Every time someone sees them, I get amazing compliments on how beautiful they are and how they enhance my kitchen.
