We were a group of 5 .... 3xriders plus 2x first timers. Everyone had a great time and as always our guides Amy and Jenny and Jemima were superb . The horses were safe and sure footed and the 360 degree panoramic forest views are not to be missed. Will be back this is the best riding stables in the new forest.

We stayed at Sandy Balls and were keen to go on a hack in the beautiful forest. The booking was made before we left home as the phone signal in the area is very poor to non-existent. We were not disappointed. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the horses were so well behaved and despite the weather the views were stunning. We loved it so much we booked lessons for a couple of days after. The tuition was outstanding and myself and my two adult children had an amazing time. It is the best school we have ever been to and will certainly be returning once the covid restrictions are eased. Special thank you to Natalie for making it all happened for us. (For those staying in the area trying to get through on the phone, the network signals are very poor so I would recommend you book before you leave home or visit them in person. Despite you being able to contact them and leave a message, they cannot always get back to you).

If you want an amazing riding experience in the New Forest-use Arniss! The location is fantastic , no roads you go straight into the forest. We’ve used other stables in the forest but this is the best. Extremely professional and Amy who took us out is so passionate and knowledgeable about the forest and the history of the area, who wouldn’t fall in love with the New Forest. We will definitely be returning.

Booked my daughter and her friend a 2 hour hack through the New Forrest. Had to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire regarding their abilities beforehand, they definitely take safety seriously I’m happy to say. They had a great time, both are experienced horse riders and the hack was tailored to their abilities. Horses are well trained , staff professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Very professional and excellent 2 hour hack in the New Forest. The guides that accompanied us were fantastic in making sure we were ok both to the experienced rider and the non riders amongst us. Highly recommend so much so I’m booked in again. Thank you for a great experience. 😃😃

My children have been riding here for a number of years - from lessons in the arena to rides out on the Forest, they have loved every minute. They have even volunteered for yard work - including mucking our - they enjoy the stables so much.

Jan and her team are warm, inviting and always concerned the riders are as well looked after as the horses.

Arniss is a wonderful find and we intend to be going back regularly for as long as we are able.

Had a lovely time Trekking in the new forest with stunning scenery and completely off road. It was great to see the wild Ponies and Deer along the way too. Amy was a friendly and knowledgeable trek leader and the whole set up nice and relaxed and friendly. The horses were super safe and well turned out. We had a steady ride due to the weather being hot which is understandable. Thanks for a lovely experience 😊

A beautiful stables run by extremely friendly staff. Two riding lessons for two teenage daughters. Perfectly pitched to their different abilities. Great horses too. We will definitely be back to hack.

I can't recommend this yard enough. It has direct forest access, friendly staff and a wonderful selection of well cared for lovely horses. My boyfriend and I have been on the mixed ability hack several times now this year and always anjoy it. My BF who is a beginner has the opportunity to have a trot (under instruction) while I go off and have a canter with the back up rider (I am a competant rider) thus making the whole thing enjoyable for both of us (although I am quite happy plodding along enjoying the scenery). If you havent tried this place give it a go! (there is the usual group of teenage stable hands who could probably learn to smile a little more, but having worked down a stables at that age myself , not gonna complain about that . Its an "age " thing!! lol).Owners Lyn and Steve are extremey friendly and welcoming every time :-)

First of all, the people are lovely and the set up very good. And of course the scenery is amazing!

However, and I'm sorry there is a 'however'... they promise a walk, trot, canter experience. I'm not the best rider in the world by any means, but I'm very used to hacking out and doing all of that stuff. I was reticent about paying £42 for a hack, seeing as we have our own horses at home, but I was looking forward to getting on another horse and having a bit of fun in lovely surroundings. My pony, poor old Russell, is obviously used to simply plodding along and at best following the horse in front. No matter what buttons I pushed, he was just not interested. The guide said that 'Russell doesn't usually canter on the first go'... well he didn't at all throughout the ride. He just ambled along at the back, going through the motions, which was a real shame. The guide proudly said that other riders have got him into canter... in other words you're just not good enough. Thanks for that! My wife, who is a very experienced rider, and her friend, also very experienced, could not get their ponies to canter either! The only person who did was my 11 year old daughter on a lovely little whizzy pony called Pippin.

I can't help but think that there is an element of misrepresentation here. The horses seem to be very safe, which is great, but they have zero 'go' in them. Also, to book you have to pay in full up front and there is no refund, or part refund, on cancelation. I paid £210 for my family for essentially just a plod in the New Forest.

One of our guides was very sweet trying to temper my frustration my telling me about the WW2 history in the area and how they dropped the biggest bomb ever in the UK nearby... very interesting, but what I needed was a bomb up poor Russell's backside.
