- HighlifeUnited Kingdom26 contributionsLovely ride in New ForestFirst time at this yard so booked into a mixed hack. The mixed abilities were well managed by two guides. Really great place to gain confidence riding out in a group. Ride safely managed. Good land history too! I enjoyed riding directly from yard onto the New Forest heath among the wild horses.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 16, 2023
- Imogen Tingle10 contributionsHighly RecommendArniss was fantastic, I would highly recommend! The staff were all kind and welcoming, the horses are also clearly well cared for, all had a real sense of love for what they were doing. I unfortunately completely messed up the booking for the child who was with us and they were just brilliant, they allowed her to stay and help out at the stables anyway. She will treasure that memory forever, thankyou so much. There also was no fuss surrounding her having afro hair (which at other stables has been an issue). Thankyou for everything!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 9, 2024

Although we were complete novices they spent time with us making sure we had a super time. It was a thrilling experience and I just want to say how enjoyable the hack was. Well done Amy and Claire for taking such good care of us.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 25, 2024

Went out on a two hour hack with Amy and Claire. It was stunning going through different parts of the forest, one minute in the moorland brush and then into a beautiful tree enclosure. The horses are so well behaved and I felt very safe with Amy and Claire as they are so professional but also lots of fun. They are also a font of knowledge and we learnt so much about the Forest as well. I would most definitely recommend Arniss to anyone who likes to ride from beginners to competent riders. They will always tailor the horse and hack route to peoples experience.

Booked my daughter and her friend a 2 hour hack through the New Forrest. Had to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire regarding their abilities beforehand, they definitely take safety seriously I’m happy to say. They had a great time, both are experienced horse riders and the hack was tailored to their abilities. Horses are well trained , staff professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

My children have been riding here for a number of years - from lessons in the arena to rides out on the Forest, they have loved every minute. They have even volunteered for yard work - including mucking our - they enjoy the stables so much.
Jan and her team are warm, inviting and always concerned the riders are as well looked after as the horses.
Arniss is a wonderful find and we intend to be going back regularly for as long as we are able.

Had a lovely time Trekking in the new forest with stunning scenery and completely off road. It was great to see the wild Ponies and Deer along the way too. Amy was a friendly and knowledgeable trek leader and the whole set up nice and relaxed and friendly. The horses were super safe and well turned out. We had a steady ride due to the weather being hot which is understandable. Thanks for a lovely experience 😊

I can't recommend this yard enough. It has direct forest access, friendly staff and a wonderful selection of well cared for lovely horses. My boyfriend and I have been on the mixed ability hack several times now this year and always anjoy it. My BF who is a beginner has the opportunity to have a trot (under instruction) while I go off and have a canter with the back up rider (I am a competant rider) thus making the whole thing enjoyable for both of us (although I am quite happy plodding along enjoying the scenery). If you havent tried this place give it a go! (there is the usual group of teenage stable hands who could probably learn to smile a little more, but having worked down a stables at that age myself , not gonna complain about that . Its an "age " thing!! lol).Owners Lyn and Steve are extremey friendly and welcoming every time :-)

How would I get to this location (train? we do not have a car) from the Marriott Hotel Maida Vale in London> How can I make a reservation to take a Hacking ride on May 4th or 5th for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I own a Paint Mare, so I am an experienced rider. Is there something my husband can do in the area - he does not ride.
Written February 20, 2015
Hi Marcia
Thank you for your enquiry.
The best located train station for Arniss is Salisbury, the journey time from London Waterloo is 90minutes. Approximate fare is £39 per person (off peak) return.
Salisbury is approximately 12 miles from Arniss Equestrian, and the best option I that I can suggest for travel for that part of your journey is taxi, there is a taxi rank at the station.
We are close to the town of Fordingbridge, and also within walking distance of a local pub.
I hope that this is helpful. If you wish to go ahead and book a ride please call us on 01425 654114.
On both of the dates that you mention we currently have availabilty for either 1 hour, 90minute, or 2 hour for yourself. We do also cater for mixed ability groups should your husband be keen to ride with you.
Kind Regards
Jan
