石碑と説明板のみ

こちらは、千歳から36号線を苫小牧方向へ千歳空港を過ぎて、左手にモダ石油ガソリンスタンドを左手へ​道道10号線を行くと約100mくらい左手に石碑と説明版がありました。
明治12年、北海道の産業振興を図るため官営事業で鹿肉の缶詰を製造していたそうです。死蔵していたそうです。
ここで、製造所で作られた缶詰は、東京や横浜はもとよりフランスの万国博覧会に出品するなどして国内外の評価も高まったそうですが、乱獲やまれにみる大雪と降雨によって10万頭に及ぶエゾシカが餓死し、生息数が激減しまたため、生産が困難となり、明治17に廃止されたそうです。
また、この先約50mには美々の御前水があります。

「跡」とある通り、ただの跡です。看板の説明を見て終わりという感じです。悪いという評価をつけると語弊がありますが、車だとただ通り過ぎてしまいます。

開拓史上のひとつの事業

苫小牧というより新千歳空港に近い場所にこちらの跡がありました。開拓史上の官営事業のひとつとして造られた美々鹿肉缶詰製造所だそうで、一時多くの缶詰が製造されていたものの諸事情により６年でその幕を閉じた歴史があると知りました。
