About
Buggles Pub and B&B is a traditional pub built circa. 1800, owned and operated by three generations of the same family. Its warm, relaxing atmosphere is welcoming and the adjoining Bed and Breakfast is of the finest quality with large spacious rooms overlooking the noted Heritage Town of Kilrush. Some of our rooms overlook Kilcredane Lighthouse and the historic townland of Reaha.Kilrush has a fine Georgian streetscape, a marina, an eighteen hole golf course, Dolphin boat trips, the restored nineteenth century Vandeleur Walled Gardens, and of course the restored West Clare Railway (immortalised by Percy French: 'are you right there Michael'), the magnificent and ancient Scattery Island which contains the remains of five of seven churches, an intact 5th century, 120 feet round tower, Napoleonic battery, a light house and keepers cottage, the deserted 'street' from the 1960s is both eerie and charming. A monthly lecture series by the local Kilrush Historical Society complements many of the local activities. Kilrush is a veritable Photographers Paradise (a quick search through Flickr confirms this) and all are welcome to enjoy the music, sample the atmosphere and experience the tranquility of Kilrush topped-off with a great pint of Guinness with Shamrock atop in Buggles Pub.

An authentic Irish bar & friendly owner
Aug 2019 • Friends
A hidden gem in west Clare and a highlight of our trip. The owner, Carmel was friendly and welcoming to her quaint bar in the lovely market town of Kilrush. Family run and also offering quality B&B accommodation, Buggles is the place to stay. Also the best pint of Guinness that we had on our holiday throughout Ireland. Be sure to visit.

Needs a dust

Called in for a few drinks having read the reviews.

Not great, tv drowning out any possibility of conversation, only people listening seemed to be the staff.

Couldn’t say the place was clean and restrooms should be condemned.

No live music except for the weekend days.

A true unadulerated Irish pub
Mar 2019 • Friends
Pubs like Buggles should be considered national treasures. This is how Irish pubs used to be and still can be. The pub as a place of conversation, who's walls tell the story of great sporting days and customers now gone. The owner is directly involved and that is why it retains its originality, because this is a family business, like all old Irish pubs used to be. It does not serve food - why would it, it's a public house.

Many thanks for your very kind words regards our very old establishment, as we are three generations running this old pub we do our best for the best and that is what we do. , This old place is over 200 years old and it's s true the walls have many stories worth reading. We are very pleased you enjoyed your visit and we hope it won't be your last We also have accommodation with some room overlooking the river Shannon and some overlooking the town. Many thanks for your review Hope o see you again soon, Kind regards, Carmel Buggles pub & B&B

Lovely snug place.

Took the kids there early for a drink and they were made welcome.
Put them to bed and then popped back for a great night of traditional music and fun.

Throwback pub in Kirush center

We stopped into Buggle's for a couple pints to escape the rain. This is a no-nonsense, 1-room bar with a local flavor and lots of charm. We found a comfortable table by the warm peat fire and enjoyed a well poured pint.

This is a charming pub with great character... and friendly conversation.

The art of pouring creamy Guinness is alive and well in Buggles.
