About
At Gaintza we take great pride in receiving guests. During our guided tours, the visitor will learn about the history and tradition of local txakolina wines. We start the visit by observing how this tradition has formed the actual landscape, then our visitors will be able to visit the winery, or "bodega". The visit finishes with a wine tasting session where our visitors can taste and learn about the 3 wines we produce at Gaintza, the traditional txakolina, our rosé and our special Aitako wine. The wines are always combined with local products to taste. The visit costs 18 euros per person. Please write to us or call us to make a direct reservation.

Tour and tasting of the local Basque wine called txakoli. The location of the Gaintza Txakoli winery is beautiful as the grapevines spread out in all directions plus a good view of the sea and green hills. The hosts were knowledgeable and friendly. It is a family run business and you could see the love of what they do. Of course, the txakoli wine is very tasty.

We had a wonderful visit to Gaintza Txakolina with Iona. Iona provided a great overview of their facility, wine production, etc. Finally, the wine tasting and pintxos were fantastic! Highly recommend taking a visit!

We had a lovely tour at the Gaintz vineyards at the beginning of July, thanks to the clear and helpful explanations of our tour guide (I believe his name is Arkaitz?). We very much appreciated and enjoyed learning about the various wineries in Getaria, the Gaintz family and their winemaking tradition, the various types and the characteristics of the local wine etc. In addition, the price per person for the tour and the wine we tasted and ended up buying were affordable. This made the overall experience even more unforgettable. Highly recommend it!

Today we visited a traditional txakolina winery and were well informed by Maialen about the history and process of making their three different wines. Maialen was charming and answered all our queries . We also enjoyed the tasting of their wines together with some local tuna and anchovies.
A very pleasant experience and we now know how to say txakolina in Spanish!

Very informative wine tour, great to see the vines and go through the whole fermentation and bottling process. All three of the wines we tried were fantastic, I hope to visit again soon. Would highly recommend as a day trip from San Sebastian, lovely lunch in Getaria after.

We had a lovely time at the Gaintz winery on an English tour beginning at 11.30 on Thursday 4 July. We learned about the wine-making process and of course drank some Txakoli! The scenery in the hills above Getaria was beautiful. The tour was led by Arkaitz, who was a clear, comprehensive and friendly guide. There was no pressure to buy anything (although we couldn’t resist purchasing a bottle!) and we felt that the EUR 16 per person fee for the tour was a fair price. We would recommend visiting the Gaintz winery on a trip to Getaria. Thank you for a lovely time.

We visited gaintza for a txakoli tour on a beautiful spring day. The location is just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the centre and it feels very nice and peaceful overlooking the vineyards. Jorge our tour guide was excellent and very informative. We spent some time both outside and inside learning all about the process and then finished off with some tasting. We'd love to go back for a tasting meal another time. We enjoyed a taste straight from barrel number 9, my husbands favourite! Must visit if you're in getaria.
