I come to the Alicante/Murcia area every year with friends for a weeks golfing. Our handicaps range from between 3-18. We have played many great courses and try to play a new course each visit. This year we tried La Marquesa and unfortunately we really wished we hadn’t. The facilities are dated and the golf course itself is very average. Some challenging holes but overall the course is in poor condition. Some areas are over watered and muddy, whilst others haven’t been at all well maintained. However by far the issue we had was the condition of the greens that can only be described as shockingly poor. The course has been redesigned and whilst some of the older greens are OK the new ones aren’t. If I’m honest the new holes shouldn’t be open. Ground under repair everywhere with weeds and bare patches.... I have seen better greens on a municipal pitch and put in the UK. They really are that bad. Do not waste your money and play here until the new holes are in a better condition. The green fees aren’t even cheaper reflecting the current course condition. It has the potential to be a reasonable course but not unless some serious work is undertaken!!!!! With so many courses nearby spend your money elsewhere. Look at the image of one of the greens I have attached to the review..... and this is one of the better ones!! The bare patches are just filled with sand.

The maintenance of the course was terrible. Lots of bunkers where overgrown with tall grass, greens where very slow etc. The course layout is pretty simplistic, with many holes looking the same. There have been a number of new holes built, but overall the impression is still pretty unimpressive. Most, or dare I say all, other courses in the area are in better condition, have better layout and are much better value-for-money.

I had lunch and dinner here. Lunch was fab. Dinner not so good. Really like the restaurant and lovely outside seating area looking over the golf course. I would recommend going for lunch.

Have played a number of courses in the area and La Marquesa wouldn’t have been a favourite, that said there’s a lot of work being carried out and I think it’ll definitely be improved. As mentioned in other reviews the course was flooded and quite a number of holes are currently closed so I’d be leaving it for a while.

We had a one week golfing holiday playing at La Marquesa Golf each day and having lunch in the club house restaurant. The menu is quite good and we chose between the different salads on offer which were huge and or the fish and chips. Great food and the staff very friendly. Highly recommend having lunch here.
