I own a 12m yacht, moored in Alicante Marina. I use it as a holiday home at present, and hope to retire here at some point.
Here’s the ‘skinny’ on Alicante Marina.
As a tourist spot, it’s ideal. During the day, it’s interesting to visit. You can marvel at the multimillion euro yachts. There’s a fair bit of coming and going. From super-yachts to smaller vessels. You can get fairly close to the boats, but security is absolute, and you won’t be allowed onto the pontoons unless you are a berthholder. There are various boat tours to take. From day trips to half an hour around the marina.
There are bars and restaurants aplenty. Tourist prices, to be sure. But plenty of good eating to be had, especially seafood, as one might expect. Not the best value to be had in Alicante, but the best views whilst you are eating, and still cheaper than the UK.
There’s a few good views of the city from the waterfront, and a lovely one of the castle on its hilltop at night.
During high season, there’s a few market stalls on the way into the Marina. Otherwise, the only shops are the ones catering to the boat owners. Sadly, no mini-mart. If you’re not planning on going for a drink in a bar, or a meal in a restaurant, it’s a good idea to take a large bottle of water with you. Even off season it can be hot and dry there.
If you don’t fancy the somewhat expensive eateries, you can always buy a few bits in a supermarket in town. Then sit on a bench and munch your way through your picnic.
Evenings are a good time to eat there. Given the illuminated cityscape. Also, there’s fewer mosquitoes than you get in the old town at night. Although, if you’re susceptible to bites, you still need to take precautions.

The Marina of Alicante is centrally located next to the city center. It has 744 moorings.
For us, who arrived by air, it was just a visually attractive place to see all the yachts from the different angles of our three hotels.

Without doubt this was where the best views could be appreciated. It was a barmy spring evening and we had the benefit of clear skies, although you needed a jumper as the sun went down. A good place to eat or enjoy a drink and tapas. It gave an opportunity to slow down and relax.

I can't recall ever seeing so many boats, yachts and other sea vessels in one place. It looked crowded, but yet well organized. I saw them from close up at the water front, from high up on Santa Barbara Castle, and eventually, I went up close an personal taking a walk down to the jetties. It was a worthwhile exercise in the cool of the evening to observe the people and their boats.

The harbor area is really a nice walk. During the day you can stop for a drink example at the Noray Cafe Bar. Excellent mojitos! In the evening it is wonderful to watch the sunset and the handsome castle of Santa Bárbara on the mountain. If you are a gamer you can also find a casino in the area.

Any visit to Alicante should include a walk around the marina, there are several bars, restaurants etc and you can catch a small water taxi across the marina to the shopping and leisure precinct.
Since our last visit there is now a Carousel ride at the road entrance which seems to be well used by younger children. My only dislike is the gaudy facade of the Casino, I'm not into this modern style architechture, but overall a good hours amble here is very enjoyable.

We weren’t able to find how to access the sailing ship. It looks like the forward mast has snapped in two.

This is the first sight of Alicante for cruisers disembarking in the port ! It is beautiful , calm , clean and inviting ! Then just follow the Promenade for a lovely stroll or take the tourist bus !

Lovely area to wonder around, really close to the beach. There are cafes and shops close by, and a lovely old fashioned roundabout for children

Hello Boaties....The Port looks ideal but would you recommend this Port to have a 14m Flybridge in regards of safety, security, boat care, places to moor off and most importantly value ? Thanks in advance.

This is a major harbor and they can accommodate boats in the 30m range easily. Summer rates are expensive, I guessing we paid $75 per night for our 15m sailboat. Another outstanding choice is Cartagena, Both are very secure and have quite a few UK boats.

I don't have an answer to your question but there are a few boats along the marina that do short cruises throughout the day so you might want to try one of those. I don't know if you can book or not as it seemed to be on a first come basis. I hope this is of some help.
