Very well worth taking the guided tour - takes you all over the castle and into places where the public is not normally allowed.

Massive castle, long walk around it, but beautiful photos and views. Right at the top there is a cafe with expensive and awful tasting food. The castle itself was worth the visit.

Walked up from Castille Marq tram station/ Hotel Maya so fairly stepp and winding- then discovered lift available from seafront! Brilliant 360 views of area, free entry, couple small museums with english guide books available to borrow to translate. Interesting afternoon spent wandering around.

A free visit to this castle is well worth the small effort I walk up the hill and to the top. They have excellent views at the top and a nice bar/restaurant which sells drinks and pizza. The castle itself doesn’t offer loads of history...More

Unfortunately the lift is currently closed for maintenance work but a free shuttle bus service is available instead. We enjoyed wandering around and had a beer in one of the several cafes in the castle. Lovely views on a nice sunny sunny day not a...More

There wasn't much to see in the castle itself, but the views from the top are lovely as is the sunset. I would recommend a visit while in the area. You can find the elevator on the beach side of the castle. Very inexpensive to...More

We came into Alicante on a cruise ship to be met with the stunning view of the fortress overlooking the city in all directions. The decision how to get to the top is made easy, by taking a tour bus, paying the €2.70 cost with...More

Well worth the walk from the bottom to the top to appreciate the scale of the place. A guide book would be a good idea to obtain the maximum from the trip as little is written in English.

Excellent old Spanish castle in Alicante, Spain. Very large grounds overlooking the harbour of Alicante and the Mediterranian beyond.

The best view over the City. The elevator cost 2,70€ pr person. You can also walk up - just follow the road on the north side or use on of the paths. They all go to the top..

There is no entry fee. You can walk up a path or you can pay to take an elevator that is accessible from the street level across fom Postiguet beach.

The walk takes about 45 minutes (normal pace). The lift is only 2.7 euro but is free if one is 65 or over and can show ID.

While there are steps to some areas even going to the top & looking around is worth it. Just ask at the bottom as the lift can take you all the way up then it makes it easier coming down.
