Santa Barbara castle is at the top of the hill in Alicante. It has a wonderful view in every direction and you can see all the beaches and the city from top. Its a free attraction unless you choose to take the elevator(2€ pp) however its a long and vertical walk so elevator is recommended. Inside there are a couple... More

We took the elevator to the top as we had children. The 360 degree vista was stunning. We had a lovely lunch in the café before heading down to the beach.

My number one suggestion to anyone reading this, is to take the elevator to the top. The climb is very steep going up to the castle, and I don't care how beautiful the day is by the time you reach the top you are thoroughly exhausted. Do yourself a favor, take the elevator and enjoy the views. There is a... More

If you want unreal views this is the place to go. We walked up to the castle, it wasn't a long walk but it was quite steep. There are places for food and refreshments up at the castle which is good also. We got the lift back down as it's free and some people had said it was more difficult... More

The view is just amazing and we took the elevator to go up to the top. Prices are ok and if you are visiting Alicante you must see the view of Alicante and the beaches around. Just great and a lovely place!

A great deal of historical importance to Alicante. A very interesting day out. Not for those with walking difficulties. Although, apparently there is a lift from the coast road. There are some interesting artefacts for children to look at & touch.

I expected it to take a long while to climb the castle, especially when the first 15 minutes of clambering through a forestry area was completely silent and nobody to be seen.. but then you reach the main road (if you don't follow it up), where the drop off point for tourists is that decide to use transport. You don't... More

It was more interesting than I thought it would be. The views are brilliant. Allow 4 hours. We paid for the lift but we thought it was worth it because there is a fair amount of walking still to do at the top. The entrance to the lift is on the main road about a 3rd the way along the... More

I chose to walk up and down it took me an hour to do the whole thing but I stopped frequently to take pictures. I'd reccomend it to anyone looking for something to do in Alicante as there isn't much else apart from the beach or shopping. You get a good view over the large city.
