Every time we have gone to Alicante and stayed at the Hotel Sercotel Spa Porta Maris (already reviewed) we have looked up at the Castell de Santa Barbara as we have left the hotel and said we should make a visit. This year we did! We incorporated the visit by the use of the hop on hop bus that goes... More

If you go to the top of the castle, the views are amazing. 360 degree views of the city and coast. Take your sun screen.

On a hot morning we decided to take a steady walk up (you can also drive). The views are amazing and the various displays are informative. You can have and meal and a drink if you want from one the cafe's near the top of the castle (not expensive). Give it a go you won't be disappointed.

We went up to the castle during the day time, if you have little children I would recommend either going in the morning or late afternoon as our 4 year old found it too hot! Other than that had a lovely time, views were amazing, I took some brilliant photos. It was nice to have a beer and ice cream... More

Go to the castle to see the view over Alicante and to learn a little about Alicante history and the story about the big bomb that destroy half of the castle, a bomb that was the biggest until then.

The amazing views from Castillo de Santa Barbara are a must for anyone with just a few hours to spare once in Alicante. Driving is not necessary although the hike from the city is a bit exhausting. There are two paths - one from the old city via the new 'gardens' (this path has only a few steps) and the... More

This is a great place to visit. We have been a few times and our routine now is to take the lift up through the rocks and then walk down afterwards. This time we took a friend and had a leisurely walk around the castle, this slow walk was enforced as the sun and heat were brutal, so be sure... More

You should take the lift in the middle of the rock to get up for 2€. Why? When you will walk down after your visit with many nice views, you will know it :-) The way is very nice but stressful, he sun is really brutal there

Bloody amazing........there were 2 families in total in our group and we had an amazing visit.....it was very hot and we stopped of in the cafe which was very reasonably priced. If I had a criticism it would be not enough signage in any languages...but worth a visit and it's free too....the only thing you have to pay for is... More
