We stayed for one night in a wonderful hotel Cases Novas in Guadalest and spent a lovely day exploring the village and all of the interesting sights of the area. As it was Christmas Eve the village was fairly quiet which made it the ideal time to explore. The streets are narrow and at busier times, it probably gets quite congested with people. All of the lovely gift shops were open and some of the museums and bars. The village is spotlessly clean with no litter or mess of any kind. It has the most stunning and spectacular views over the Guadalest Valley and up to the castle. We went into the museum in the oldest house in the village which then gives access to the castle ruins and the high viewing areas at the top of the cliffs. The house is very large with lovely and interesting furniture and artifacts. The climb up to the top of the castle was relatively easy, although probably not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users, even though there are beautifully laid paths all the way up. The climb is well worth the effort. The views are spectacular. We were amazed that the entry fee for the museum and Castle was only 4 euros per person! Amazing value for money and a wonderfully unique experience and the chance to take some wonderful photos. We will definitely visit Guadalest again and will always visit the museum and castle as it is such good value!! Highly recommended. *****

weve been twice, its beautiful but there are a lot of steps to get to the top, if you dont want to go into the lovley museums then it is an expensive trip... 15 euro each, there are little shops but a lot of them sell the same stuff. The tour guide offers tickest for the museums at a good price 10euro for all 4 or sells them seperately. they also offer a meal deal.. not much choice really toasted sandwich and a drink

One of the most fascinating places in the Alicante province with breathtaking views!
Totally woth a one day trip.
The road to Gaudalest worth to be mentioned as well. It is a beautiful mountain road with scenic views. So, if you have a motorcycle, convertible car (we got a Mazda MX-5) or any other interesting vehicle, the road to Guadalest will be something you will remember.

We went on a blanket trip with a couple of hours in this amazing village perched up high. It had lots to offer with a castle, picnic and park, shops and several museums. It is very quaint with lots of little avenues to explore with many photo opportunities. A castle up high and lagoon down low. A definite tourist place to visit. There are at least four museums although a fee to pay very interesting. There was two that were sculptures done for example on a grain of sand, a typical Spanish house recreated and preserved and a man who dedicated his whole life to items in miniature. Now that was amazing. All forms of shops, a frame of luggage it was just magnificent to the detail and scale, unfortunately unable to take any photos so just feast with your eyes. There was so much you would need many visits as each was amazing. For example there is a man with a cigarette in his mouth and when you move the red crystal catches the light and you think it is lit. There is running water, rolls of cloth perfect. The list and detail is endless and just done brilliantly no item not thought out to perfection. There is a local liquor made from a local fruit. Thankfully we tried it and didn’t like it. The fruit was similar to a peach. The highlight of our holiday. I believe you can access via a bus but do your homework as there are not many buses which visit each day. Children might enjoy but it is an adult experience.

This tiny village is worth a stop if you’re in the area. Its about 30 minutes from benidorm and Villajoyosa. Perfect for a half-day trip. It sits perched in between a valley on some high up cliffs and although there aren’t many activities other than some museums, it’s a great place to walk around, shop for some cute souvenirs and have lunch. The views of the village and the reservoir are beautiful. The restaurants are well priced and the parking is cheap as well (municipal €2). Many of the residence speak both English and Spanish. Very steep and narrow cobbled streets that probably aren’t ideal for wheelchairs or high heals.

I travelled from Alicante. Get line 1 to Benidorm tram stop - I think you could get the 841 from mercado. The bus stop is right outside the tram stop - just to the right. It doesn’t mention bus 16 but it showed up about 10.10am. Bus ticket just under 7 euros return. Guadalest is a pretty village - a bit touristy with lots of tourist shops . If you pay 4 euros to go into the castle bit you get the best view of the white bell tower. Bus leaves at 1.30pm from the car park where it dropped you off. 2 hours is more than enough time there.

This is a really stunning place to go for photos and atmosphere. The views are beautiful as you can see right from the mountain top down to the cost and sea below. We decided to go later in the day as it was cooler and more comfortable to sight see, however unfortunately many of the interesting little shops were closing up an we couldn't get into see the castle itself. However we found a lovely little restaurant and had brilliant tapas. Definitely worth a trip!

A great regular trip venue within easy travel of the coast. Cooler than the coast though often opposite and warmer on sunny days in winter (example 30C in Feb 2020 while only 22C at Benidorm). Also on foggy days can be clear at this altitude
Well worth the climb to the 'castle if only for the views. Great little museums in the village and reasonably priced bars and cafes.

Interesting mountain town with winding cobbled streets, restaurants and gift shops stocking local delicacies and crafts. Lots to see and do.
Lovely views from the top. Avoid the ladies who take a picture of you as you walk through the archway- they make a key rings with your pics!
