The town is surrounded by prehistoric caves, where burials have been found containing mummies of the Guanches who were the aboriginal inhabitants of the Canary Islands. The statues are in their honour. There are 9 statues which are on display since August 1993.

This is a lovely square with views out to sea and interesting sculptures all the way along, we were here at christmas and it had a big Christmas tree covered in Butterflies, worth a trip.

We had been told about these statues by our tour guide on the blanket trip. To see them up close was very impressive.

These are amazing huge statues of the nine aboriginal kings of Tenerife guarding the island.They are on one side of the sqaure.
