Wonderful experience. We have a lot of experience in tastings and in the world of wine and it surprised us. Africa explained to us curiosities and specifications that had never been mentioned to us. We liked everything in general, atmosphere, service, product...we recommend it without a doubt.

Visited this winery as part of our cruise tour. Overal the winery is very nice, beautifully located on the outskirts of the village. The tour itself was nice showing us the wine making process as well as the “caves”. However I felt as we were a part of a big group, the tasting itself lacked depth. Only giving us the 2 glasses of cava without a proper information about it. So different from when we visited freixenet by ourselves. I guess this had to do with the big group, but I still missed something.

Spent a couple of hours here after doing the chocolate experience earlier in the day.
Lovely vineyard set in the hills - stunning views to Montserrat and an excellent and very informative tour guide.
He was very informative about the older vines and the new organic vines they are growing and in the cave below the building the stacking and bottling system has to be seen to be believed.
At the end the tasting was served with a few nibbles and was not restricted to just a small glass of each - very impressive all round and well worth a visit if you are close by.
Highly recommended

I'm a huge fan of wine tours. But traveling with small kids it's not easy to find a wine/cava tour that also makes the experience fun for kids.
Until I found Vilarnau!
First of all they take your kids with 2 lovely guides and give them a tour of the vineyard and production area, like they do with adults, but with kids they make it very kid friendly teaching them all about the process. My son was telling me all about it after, without me prompting him.
Then they have a tasting for the kids, of the grapes from the area but with the juice. They teach them how to learn to taste.
And at the end they have fun arts and crafts time together.
The adults tour is just as fun. We were with Georgina, and she is so fun and knowledgeable. We are given a full tour, explaining everything, and a great cava tasting with food at the end.
One of our favorite things to have done while visiting Barcelona as a day trip out of the city.
Sooo recommend it for everyone, especially families!

In advance of a recent trip to Barcelona, I wanted to plan a stop at a local Cava vineyard on our way back from a visit to Montserrat. I contacted a few different vineyards in the Penedés region hoping for an afternoon tour. Georgina Saumell Esteve from Vilarnau responded, notifying me that we would miss the last English tour of the day, but they would be happy to have us come after the tours, around 5:00 (17:00) for a tasting with light appetizers.
As the day arrived, we ended up leaving Montserrat earlier than expected. We even contemplated not staying until 5:00 for the tasting and heading back to the city early. I am SO happy we didn't. As soon as we pulled up the driveway, lined with tall cypress trees, I knew we made the right decision. The estate is beautifully modern with views to all the surrounding vineyards. Georgina met us in the entry and gave us a brief history of the region and Vilarnau before leading us out to a covered terrace. She proceed to explain each of the 3 wines/cavas she selected for us, then left us to enjoy on our own.
The wines she picked were perfect, and the appetizers hit the spot (small sausages, parmesan cheese, and small bread/crackers). We chatted, drank, ate and took in the moment, at one point realizing we were at a beautiful vineyard, in Spain, by ourselves, on the most perfect day.
Georgina was so knowledgeable and sweet! She made my entire trip by offering us this opportunity. Our group ended up buying a few bottles of the wines we tried and drank them later that night. It was such an incredible experience, I would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you Vilarnau!

What a fantastic morning! We visited Vilarnau on the first morning of a hen party I organised last week and it was everything and more that we hoped.
After lots of emails with Georgina, she couldn't have been more helpful and brilliant in arranging the morning - including a taxi from Barcelona city.
As well as being really interesting and educational, the vineyard and cellar are set in beautiful grounds and Georgina made the visit so much fun.
It was the absolute highlight of the trip, as it was a surprise for the hen - could not recommend it enough!!

We visited this vineyard as they are a supplier used by my wife's work and boy were we in for a treat. Having had their brut as our wedding toast drink it was lovely to be able to see where it was produced and meet the staff.
I really don't know where to start with the tour as it was so good. We began by meeting our guide Georgina who spoke superb English and was funny and informative and by the end of the day was like an old friend.
Outside we had a few bubbles and a glass or two of pink fizz before walking the vines and looking at the different varieties. We then headed round to the lake and then to the centre of production and then into the cellars themselves to see the wines in the maturing stage. All the time we were talked through what was happening and why.
Once we had seen all the production stages we visited the corking and labelling room which was fascinating.
Following all this we went outside to an amazing lunch and tasted 4 more of the vineyards products.
As a group of 4 we couldn't have been better looked after and I can't speak highly enough of the passion, dedication and quality that Vilarnau represents The staff are all wonderful and couldn't have made us more welcome. I'd give them 6/5 if I could. Well worth a visit.

This winery tour is exceptional. They produce only cava in the methode of champagne. The tour is comfortable and clean and the tasting is even better. The staff is very personable and they speak several languages

Our group of four all agreed that we have never had a tour of any winery around the world that compared to the tour Vilarnau provided to us. Their in-depth display of their Cava production processes and the humour and tastings that followed were unforgettable! Not to mention we had the entire winery, including the cellars, to ourselves for the duration of our afternoon visit. Highly recommended! Thank-you, again, for the incredible experience!

We visited Valarnau with a tourist group. The wine tour was very informative. The guide of the wine Estate explained very well and know the product well. If you like wine, this tour is for you. Great cava wines, that are top quality. A beautiful setting.

How do I get to Vilarnau from Barcelona? Is it possible to go by train or bus?
And is it possible to visit in december, just before or after Christmas?
