Buy carrots at the entrance and feed the animals throughout your time at the zoo. Best EURO we ever spent. The petting zoo area was tons of fun for the whole family. Feeding the animals more than just pellets (like at other zoos) was awesome.
The playground was fun and the pony rides were great!

Well run private zoo where animals are kept in a very “human” way. All in all a good experience, for children, teenagers and adults alike.

We've been to Opel Zoo three times in as many months and enjoyed each and every visit!
A recent job project brought me and my colleague to Bad Soden and we found it a great way to spend our evenings wandering the premises of Opel Zoo. The compound of Opel Zoo is very well kept and extensive. They have many animals and you find good viewpoints to watch them at every compound.
They have drinks, ice cream and snacks. Restrooms are also available.
The Lodge is a restaurant & bar right next to the entrance. It's rather pricey but very nice and well worth a visit.

It was surprising I couldn't pay with a Visa card. Very few toilets, which can be disturbing when visiting with young children. Moreover, one of the toilets was only accessible when leaving the benches/picnic(?) area through a gate, but then returning through the same gate is not possible. Poor customer services, to say it elegantly.

Terrible service, felt like my family with two kids was treated worse than animals there.
Really bad customer service, personnel is not polite. If you have a small complaint, you will be treated worse than the animals they have. In terms of quality, nothing really special. Because of overabundance of sheep and goats, I felt more like at a farm, than a zoo. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The whole experience was a disaster and a waste of time.

This is winter season repairs are ongoing animals selection is tiny the only exotic ones are too far to see well for small children. Everywhere mud, tractors etc
I would understand maybe if this would behalf price. But 40euros for 2 adults and one 4yo is a bit of a joke. Especially then when inside attractions like trampoline etc require additional payments.
If this is sponsored by Opel then certainly will not encourage visitors to look at their cars!

I needed to spend time until my flight from Frankfurt to São Paulo, and I did not want to go to Frankfurt, so I decided to pay a visit to this little zoo that was near my hotel. Spent 2 hours or so in there, it was almost a private tour, it had some animals I haven't ever seen, as I'm from Brazil, and was very interesting.

Despite a rainy day, the zoo was full of families with chlidren. It's a great place to spend time seeing many animals just like in their natural habitats. Like in many places in Germany, the Opel Zoo is too built in a forest which seems to be perfect for a zoo. They don't have big cats, but there are many others you would like to see. You are even allowed to enter into some cages. You can buy carrots (€2 a pack) at the entrance to feed animals. This is absolutely a great fun for the children as well as a good way of endearing animals to them.
My wife and I spent around two hours in the zoo and enjoyed a lot. There is also a nice cafe/restaurant to have food and views over the zoo. You can continue watching and feeding elephants while feeding yourself too. Adult ticket €13, children €7. A large car park is available.

Wow what a wonderful suprise to be able to wander around the Opel Zoo - owned by the famous family of Opel Cars and visit their contribution to natural habitat and wildlife reproduction and longevity with the breeding successfully of giraffes, elephants and you name it, it was there.
Do yourself a favour and take the day - the day i went it was very hot - 30 degrees at least but the wander around the forest surrounding the animal enclosures mostly kept us safe out of the sun and at least 5 degrees cooler than we could have been if we had not gone!
A good entry fee that will not shock, along with well planned enclosures and a new elephant enclosure to come provided lots of things to look at .
Participatory panels all through the zoo for children along with english wording and German wording catering for both speaking nationalities.
I would encourage you to visit if you have children, camel rides, feeding the animals right up close is possible for children in a safe environment.
Also a large safe play area for children where adults can watch them safely and not feel too far from them at any time.
I'm not a zoo person but suprised myself by enjoying every bit of this Zoo by day.

The Opel Zoo is a privately owned zoo north of Frankfurt and can be therefore easily reached by a lot of people. Parts of the zoo can be seen from outside withouth paying the entrance fee as it is situated along a public walkway. But spending the money to see everything is definitely worth it. It is a very nice zoo with a lot of different animals in large compounds. They even offer camel rides at certain times and as one of the very few zoos they keep elefants - the renovation of their compound is on the way.
They are very engaged in the education especially of children and offer a vast variety of tours and courses for school classes and also for private groups. But also for adults it is a very interesting trip to take, especially when you take part in a night tour to see all night-active animals.
