Nice tour of a beautiful small castle

We arrived at 10.15 and asked for a tour. We immediately got a private one, because this early we were the first visitors of the day. Our guide spoke very good English, and was able to answer all our questions. The tour takes you through the armour room, the Venetian style domestic part of the castle, the Venetian garden and the kitchen. The tour takes about 40 minutes and is well worth the time.

a castle full of original antique furniture, armors, arms, and plenty of othe rmedieval objects

the guide was great, she was able to bring the place alive; all these arms, all these armors, all these rooms, 't was a trip back in time

Interesting visit

Guided tour is mandatory if you want to see the interior of the castle, which amongst others contains a huge collection of medieval weapons and armour. Unfortunately taking photos is not allowed. The guide was charming and did an excellent job despite some English language problems. Interesting to see how the living quarters from long ago. The tour was a little bit long for the kids, but this was in part due to the warmth and humidity.

The tour was €8, which was necessary to see the inside of the castle. The inside was well decorated and interesting. We felt like we missed some information the guide provided in Italian because it seemed that the English translation was much shorter. That could just be a language barrier. The guide had great English skills. You are not allowed to take pictures of the inside, which was a bummer. The castle doesn't open til 3 pm, contrary to what Google had to say.

Great guides; fascinating place

We were the only three English-speakers in a large group of visitors. Rather than try to do a tour bi-lingually which would have been hard for both the Italian guests and us, Giovannia and her colleague separated us. Giovannia apologized for her English skills but actually, they were quite good. These guides are a treasure trove of interesting historical facts about this medieval castle and its long history. This might be the best 8 euros we spent the whole time in Italy...and in fact, one of us got in for the senior price of only 6 euros.

Monselice the castle

We travelled from Padua by train ,-a short inexpensive journey. There is a steep walk up the hill to the castle which is furnished sympathetically with objects which make the castle feel comfortable. There are also a wide range of weaponry displayed. We were provided with an English speaking guide with another couple who were Bavarian. The guide provided us with a really good tour of all the rooms in the palace,demonstrating how the people lived . The walls were decorated with large red and cream check unusually distinctive.
We continued up the hill to see a chapel with glass cupboards at the altar where skeletons wearing clothes from centuries ago. Walk further up the hill 120+ steps and eventually reached a derelict castle excellent views.

Beautiful castle & excellent tour

I was the only person in the castle, so I had a private tour. (Because nothing in the castle is behind glass, the only way to see the castle is by tour.) My guide was excellent--full of interesting information about the castle and able to answer all of my questions. The previous owner of the castle did an amazing job restoring it and filling it with period arms and furniture, and my guide was able to explain what in the castle was original and what had been modified (and when). I've been to other castles in Europe, and found this one of my favorites because of the extensive restoration & all the furnishings and decorations--I could easily imagine life in the castle hundreds of years ago.

The tour is given in the languages of the group. That will give you time to look around the room e.g. of the very impressive collection of amour and weapons of the time period.

Beautiful furniture, interesting chimneys, and superb setting

The inside of the castle has fantastic period furniture - though most of it not original to the locale. A fascinating dining room, lots of old weapons, and interesting chimneys. Typical castle stuff. Great location and walking distance to an older fortress further up the hill. A pleasant afternoon.

Nice for the evening walk after dinner

Monselice is a small and a bit sleepy, but the walk up to the castillo completed our after-dinner stroll. Nice view of Monselice from the castillo.
